finished off shantae and the pirates curse tonight. interesting departure from risky's revenge.

traded in the metroidvania structure of the world for more of a mega man style stage-based structure with hidden power ups along the critical path. got rid of the multi layered foreground/background maps. amped up the difficulty considerably in terms of traversal challenges, bosses, and enemy placements.

i hope the newest game later this year is as good as the previous two and keeps innovating.

I liked it a lot too. I thought id never get another zelda in the ww art style and was pretty happy with its translation to handheld. That close the ds to make a map puzzle stumped me pretty good for a while. Felt like psycho mantis in my zelda.

I am convinced that the last phase of the sniper boss in Furi is impossible for the human mind to overcome

Dash where the rings cross once they start coming from the sides. You will take damage in that part. the characters turn and dash is not fast enough to do it perfectly unless you are god like. If you make it through you get a one hit ko

Is it "bland" not very interesting or alan wake "not very interesting but in several years people will probably warm up to it"

Bland like 22 minute full tv show cutscenes between all the levels that have more car/phone advertising than interesting action.

I managed eventually. Feel like the delay on the dash is a bit too much for that sequence to feel like... not cheap difficulty, but whatever, it's done.

The boss afterwards is the perfect follow-up to the sniper's tricks and traps. Kind of struggling with his third stage though, the attacks are hard to read and I can't see the tell very well against the background.

yeah it's really really good. It made a Kotaku guy cry because hard games hurt his feelings lol

Yeah the game has some questionable level design in it that is pretty annoying in places and i sympathize with kotaku guy even though he is super dumb to write an article about how big a pussy he is.

Ultimately im pretty cool on the game. Its really up its own rear end for such shallow gameplay. In the fights. It feels like playing simon says. I like technical reactive games but usually they have more leeway and room for creativity in how you play.

No wonder they call the third boss the Master of Time. Stuck on him for 4 hours, only ever die to the part I only get to practice after 10 loving minutes shooting. Its like 3 and a half hours of time consuming easy poo poo and half an hour loving up his lightning quick parry windows.

Im pretty sure this is a good game, but it seems way heavier on the bullet hell aspect than the first 2 bosses led me to believe. I hate twin stick shooters, I can't aim for poo poo. My earlier recommendation still stands, but you better like wandering around slow moving bullets for literal hours if you have trouble with the actually challenging part of the game.

Edit: ^ please god give me tips on the third boss. I've been doing this poo poo for hours.

The problem with the item gambling for irl money is that it's not done through Steam so Valve doesn't get a cut, which is also another reason why they have no accountability for it happening. They have nothing to do with the "business" side of it either.

The gambling drives purchases of skins from valve. Their loot model will likely need to change in the future to avoid legislation targeting this activity

Yeah I heard that was really good. Due to generally poor spending habits, I think Ill have to wait until its on sale (again?), though.

Its pretty much limbo with graphics for 3 hours but with a super goofy end sequence that makes you feel badass in the last 20 minutes.

Id say its overhyped in terms of gameplay and the puzzles are fairly basic but everything is well presented.

Its not goty unless you are a lazy aging game reviewer who favors easy short games, but its worth the 5 dollars most people will pay for it next summer in the steam sale

Yeah. Its just crazy to me how some people that play the same games as me have a totally different internal experience with them.

Im the same way with traditional games. In the past I've gotten loving furious at people who regularly beat me at cards when they are just playing with their gut by the seat of their pants and im counting cards and estimated probabilities and im just so slow that even with all that it doesnt help.

I regularly lose at mortal combat and street fighter to my roommate who literally just button mashes and doesn't know any combos, and I watch youtube videos and practice combos for hours.

My whole life is like a loving joke. i cant hold a job because my idea of a job is to do what im told how I'm told to do it, and when my coworkers slack off and cut corners, im left working twice as hard to be just as good, and I work slower as a result. And it's not socially acceptable to loving scream at these people, becausr eve though from my perspective they are maljciously disrespecting me for their own literal profit, I'm the rear end in a top hat. And thus is just life. I dont understand how to communicate how I feel to other human beings, and part of how I feel is that all of human society is a fuckin joke based on ignorant misconceptions about the fundamental drives of humans as biological machines.

I learned a bunch of fundamentally wrong lessons at a young age and they became a core part of how I function internally and no one noticed.

And then I grew up and

i also have a really bad eye for things on screen and always miss animations, but i still play fighters a lot and do ok because practice really pays off there more than anything and also you are dealing with a human who can be conditioned and confused by your play.
Also its really common that players who start to learn what they should be doing in a fighting game start to lose badly to players that don't know poo poo. when you know what you should be doing but haven't mastered it it is even harder to play well and react to someone else. just keep playing and your effort will pay off.
