An uncountable number, to be sure.

Is going into a restaurant that looks like someone's house to eat a nice bowl of plain rice something that actually happens in Japan?

A lot of small restaurants/bars in Japan are run out of essentially what is someone's home. The family usually lives behind or above the restaurant portion.

This show looks like its going to be a combination of two of my favorite 'genres'. Single dad with cute kid and Japanese food porn. I'm very excited.

What a great show. For some reason I thought this was going to be a short, glad it's not.

It feels like a halfway point between what a Yotsuba anime would be and Barakamon. Interesting that both this and Barakamon used actual child VAs, that's unusual, right?

I guess so - I think the Usagi Drop anime might have also done it?

Though from what I remember of the manga it's really upbeat for everything past the first chapter/episode. They just hit that emotional low point first to make everything else sunshine and rainbows.

The manga is generally happy but Kouhei and Tsumugi are dealing with some still-fresh grief and there are quite a few chapters that touch on that in various ways. Pretty much anything dealing with the mom yanks the tears right out of my face even when they're generally happy memories or just a really brief moment in an overall upbeat chapter (I have the same reaction reading Chichikogusa tbh).

This series is super slow paced, and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing given the mood they're going for, I'm wondering how they're actually going to get to all the side character shown in the OP and ED. Actually, how many episodes is this scheduled for?

The anime seems to be covering one manga chapter per episode, so if it's a typical 12-episode cour everyone in the OP should get plenty of screen time eventually.

In fact, with that schedule, I'm very slightly disappointed that the big blow-up in chapter 10 will have to wait until the second season for its emotional resolution in chapter 14.

I thought it was just a pun with his name? Inuzuma->Inazuma

Edit: Technically it's also the girl's name.

I thought it was a mix of a pun, and a twist on "sweetness and light"; lightning isn't pleasant so much as sudden and shocking, so, I figured it was reflecting how while the series is super sweet and cute and all, there's the undercurrent involving stuff like Inuzuka's dead wife and whatnot that sometimes comes up. But, I could be entirely wrong, so.
