Let's talk about one of the greatest film directors of all time.

My favorite Orson Welles story is how his last and greatest role was the voice of Unicron in the Transformers Movie and he went to his grave knowing that his enduring legacy was as the voice of a Japanese toy.

my favorite orson welles quote is everything he says here

quote:

Orson Welles: I hate Woody Allen physically, I dislike that kind of man.

Interviewer. I’ve never understood why. Have you met him?

O.W.: Oh, yes. I can hardly bear to talk to him. He has the Chaplin disease. That particular combination of arrogance and timidity sets my teeth on edge.

Interviewer: He’s not arrogant; he’s shy.

O.W.: He is arrogant. Like all people with timid personalities, his arrogance is unlimited. Anybody who speaks quietly and shrivels up in company is unbelievably arrogant. He acts shy, but he’s not. He’s scared. He hates himself, and he loves himself, a very tense situation. It’s people like me who have to carry on and pretend to be modest. To me, it’s the most embarrassing thing in the world—a man who presents himself at his worst to get laughs, in order to free himself from his hang-ups. Everything he does on the screen is therapeutic.

Orson Welles directed Citizen Kane when he was twenty five years old.

Because it never leaves its bedroom, no one has ever seen this poster's real face.
here he is with the shockingly adorable h.g. wells.
you will recall that the two men were briefly united in the national conscience when welles read wells' story "war of the worlds", frightening dumbdumbs, but actually not really causing all that much of a panic if you really look into it.

Orson Welles posted:

"I have been to Kenosha in recent years," Welles replied in the letter, and found it "vital and charming."

But years later, he told Welles scholar and Milwaukee native Joseph McBride: "I'm not ashamed of being from Wisconsin. Just of being from Kenosha. It's a terrible place."

Everyone needs to read My Lunches with Orson. It's purestrain gold.

He talks about Laurence Olivier staring into a mirror wishing he could suck his own dick.

Also, he trash talks Chaplin, Hitchcock, Richard Burton, and Spencer Tracy.

The most hosed up bit in the book is that he says FDR told him the Japanese internment camps were meant to protect Japanese Americans from riots.
