They also revealed what a colossal idiot JoeyVapes was, including how he got scammed out of money by a crack addicted prostitute. However a lot of people were praising him about his writing, which while not terrible, wasn't anything special. Some other people started posting thier own stories in the thread (some of which were clearly made up). Instead of having a good laugh, JoeyVapes got mad at them, leading the FYAD goons to (correctly!) identify JoeyVapes as a self-absorbed egotist. About this time JoeyVapes apparently decided he was a forums superstar, and that the rules didn't apply to him. He was known for frequently threadshitting, and he developed a terrible reputation with the mods. Joey became convinced the mods were out to get him, especially Abe. He managed to wrack up an impressive twelve probations within the course of a single year. On April fools day 2012 Ozma decided to make him a mod as an April Fools prank. He used the awesome power of his modship to spam threads insulting Abe, Ozma, and Lowtax. He probated Abe...for a whopping six hours. After a while Ozma realized JoeyVapes wasn't going to do anything funny and banned him. He hasn't re-regged the JoeyVapes account, and if he's been back under another name he hasn't made it known. The whole subforum should go. Anything posted in there that is not entirely for creeps and perverts should be able to stand on its own in any of the other media forums. It feels like there's some kind of massive pedo-drama in that forum once a year. Just flush it.

Look I think there's fair arguments to be made from both sides of the aisle here but I think at the end of the day you have to ask yourself what separates anime from other types of media that it necessitates its own particular subforum. And, look, I think if you're honest with yourself you'd have to say it comes down to two factors. 1: That's it's made in Japan and 2: That it's chock full of loving pedo poo poo.

I guess I'm the only person that finds a mod egging on an extremely intoxicated person with obvious self esteem issues to post nudes of herself in a thread full of thirsty creeps that he stickied and goldmine to be super gross and not ok? I saw it and figured I'd log in in a few days and the natural shitstorm it should have caused would have happened but nope. Is there an in-joke I missed?

Framing it as people being upset about a tit being posted is skeevy and disingenuous. The problem is that someone who was clearly vulnerable and at a low point in their life was encouraged to humiliate themselves for the entertainment of a bunch of gross horny creeps and that a mod did their best to make sure that humiliation was as made as public and as lasting as possible because it they thought it was funny/was one of those gross horny creeps.
