It randomly rolls back my AMD drivers to an incompatible version without asking or telling me it's doing it. Then it gets stuck in a boot loop unless I boot into safe mode, uninstall the incompatible drivers, reinstall a working driver, reboot, uninstall those drivers because they're not the newest ones and then reinstall the newest drivers and reboot again. Also, booting seriously takes like 10 minutes each time so that's like 30 minutes gone each time it happens.

Windows 8.1 is fine once you make it look exactly like Windows 7. Plus it boots faster.

I thought long and hard for months about upgrading from 8.1 to 10 and I finally decided to skip it. My laptop won't benefit from the new directx and I don't care for any of the new features like cortana or edge. I was almost certain to run into driver problems and losing control over windows update is just a terrible idea.

once a day my laptop reboots on its own, then goes through a 35 minute reboot process where Windows 10 installs updates, then the updates fail, then it rolls back. I don't know why the gently caress it does this but it recently happened 4 pages into a paper I was writing for school.

e: this sucked because I drank 4 beers and did two shots lamenting my lost paper and ended up submitting six pages of word salad and got a 81 on it because of "solid ideas and research but overall you had coherency issues"

For real check this guy out. Almost every response is "I can't reproduce it on my machines so it's not an issue with windows 10."

"It's a clean install and I haven't installed any other programs since I did it. Also here's a bug report showing that it's an issue with Windows 10"

"I can't reproduce it on any of my 3 machines running Windows 10 so it's not a problem with Windows 10."

It's certainly the end user's fault that there are inherent flaws in the operating system that break it for hundreds of people, yes of course.

edit: Inherent flaws like, "sometimes the update starts without your permission" and "sometimes the upgrade itself fucks up and formats your hard drive"

"Hardware inflation" is a real thing, has been a real thing for almost half a century, and if consumers have not picked up on that by now it's their own drat fault even if it is total bullshit that forces them to buy new expensive poo poo every few years.

Yeah the updates on Windows 10 sucks. That's a totally valid reason to note get it. I respect that.

Not like Arby's ads or anything. In one of the tiles it recommends apps you might like. I never noticed it, because I never look at those tiles.

Hey, look. Look, if- if you screw me on this, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine, you rat bastard!
I tried to start downloading it tonight before the midnight deadline, but it must not have made it in time. I had an error and needed to reboot and when I tried install it I was told the deadline was passed so I guess that ship has sailed.

Maybe for the best. I have some old software and hardware I never got around to installing or reinstalling (Mostly from the XP era) and/or that I'm not sure how well it plays with Windows 10. I bought Win8 around the time it came out when I bought my current PC, so when Win8.1 support finally ends, I'll probably be on the verge of getting a new computer with Windows 10 v2.
