Dodgers get Josh Fields for a minor league 1B I've never heard of.

A reliever with an 11.5 K/9 and 1.7 BB/9? Yeah, I'm down with that.

If it's really Drew Hutchison, man. I owe Shapiro an apology. At first I hated him but now he's slain all my most hated blue jays, and taught me to love JA fuckin Happ. What a world.

His 4-seamer has almost as much horizontal movement as Sale's and last I checked he had just about the highest 4-seam whiff percentage in baseball.

Am I wrong or do two of the three pitchers the Jays got don't seem to be very good? I guess anyone can turn it around but it's hardly confidence inducing.

They suck completely. But Liriano has at least been Good Before whereas Drew Hutchison and Jesse Chavez were the pitching equivalents of Pol Pot and Anders Breivik, respectively.

I know it is just pretend but it is fun to see the Brewers go from a bottom system to a top 5 over a year or so. I can't even make a top 10 list anymore. Adding Ortiz and Bickford to go along with Hader as your top pitching prospects is pretty nice.

I'm kind of terrified of putting Luis Ortiz in Milwaukee though considering every scouting report is obligated to include the "as long as he doesn't get even fatter" caveat

He's a cool prospect and good kid though, please be nice to him. Same for Sweet Lew

Spencer Patton back up for the Cubs to fill Matusz's spot. Probably not going to last long though, given Smith is on the way and Grimm is eligible to rejoin in a little over a week.

This has been a very strange deadline for Pirates fans.

I guess we really are punting on this season. Seems fair considering McCutchen is a very, very mortal man this season. That window is a-closin', though, even with Marte and Polanco having great years and tons of team control.

Yes, I have walked along the path of evil many times, it's a twisting curving path, that actually leads to a charming block garden, but beyond that evil!

As a Yankee fan this was an awesome deadline, I love Cashman. Super quick question, I dont know the Indians farm system all that well, was the Miller trade pretty good overall? Havent had a chance to check reactions yet.

He was an assistant in the Astros front office. He's also 11 years old. We'll see how he pans out, though it's optimistic to call him Theo-esque before we even see how the Astros rebuild really panned out, much less our own.

I am trying to discover this reason. What is it exactly? Is his true talent level a .450 BABIP or something?

Intruder

I've never been sure with Fields honestly. He's had periods where he looks untouchable and then he can't find the zone all of a sudden so he'll groove one and get hammered

Iirc he also pitches way up in the zone a lot

His stuff is way better than his results so maybe bad luck

Yeah Stearns is only in his early 30s. He came from the Astros. Not surprising they avoided Gallo as he seems to prefer athletic range dudes with on base skills instead of traditional sluggers. System could really use a first base prospect so should be interesting to see what type he goes after.

Also never thought I would see a Mat Gamel reference here. Made me sad to never really see him play in MLB after tearing his ACL twice.
