Hotel swings wildly from intentionally hilarious to unintentionally hilarious. It still has horrific imagery, but it gets paired with ridiculous and bizarre scenes that you can't help but laugh at. Like the Addiction Demon has a pretty scary appearance and is really intimidating when it first appears....then it starts raping a guy to death with a drilldo. It's even worse because the shot as Sally walks in lingers on the Demon pounding away like it ain't no thang, as if she's awkwardly walking past a drunk couple banging at a house party, and when the Demon disappears the camera ends up staring at his bare, violated rear end.

Ryan Murphy has quite a few fetishes.

Loving the contained vibe of the season so far. The scope feels so much smaller than even murder house, which had all the ghosts of the past to depthen things a bit. It has to go full tilt camp at some point though, it's AHS. Beverly Leslie RIP.

Ryan Murphy revealed in an interview before the last episode that the 3 survivors didn't necessarily tell the truth about what happened at the house. We caught a glimpse of this with the real nurses being much more disturbing-looking than the reenactment versions. I get the feeling the real Mott ghost wasn't nearly as friendly or pretty as Rory portrayed him.

That's something I've been thinking about a lot. We got a split second view of the nurses, but they clearly looked...worse off. So did the colonists ghosts, all grey and ghastly. The thing is, ghosts in the AHS universe look like they did when they die, so why do these ghosts look scary?

E: The one exception I can think of are the Murder House nurses, who didn't look exactly like their living selves, but they still had a reasonably human skin color, so

It's been a while that an AHS episode was actually stressful to watch. I hate torture porn, but they didn't overdo it IMO and it was just emotionally draining in a way horror can be. Great episode.

I'm really enjoying this season, but goddamn if Sarah Paulson's accent isn't running thin. I love her as an actress but hoo-boy that accent ruins every dramatic scene she's in.

See, that's exactly why I'm loving it. "Oh he was such a wonderful scene partner, gave me so much to work with :sadwave: "

The character is hammy as gently caress and the accent makes it work.

I am disappointed that with all the "will this be season 6" trailers they had with such great imagery and he wants to revisit Coven? Misty said she had a way in mind to come back drat it so it better happen.

Season 2 also had Lilly Rabe in top form, so that was also good.

Does Shelby actually suggest Mott helping them when they go into the tunnels? I just remember them wanting to escape that way because it led out into the woods and they figured it wouldn't be full of cameras (they underestimated Sidney's obsession).

Yup, I vividly remember her saying so because it jarred with the earlier Mott that zombie screamed at Lee etc.

Jesus christ, I don't even know what the hell that was supposed to be. I mean I guess it's possible? It doesn't matter. The whole place is haunted though and I guess the thing with Lee saying, If the place wasn't so pretty people wouldn't move here was a point but not a very good one in terms of whether there's a house or not, people will always build their McMansions and cum castles or whatever, so it doesn't really matter whether there's an actual building on the property on not... people build houses on land all the time, it's a thing they do. Blowing up the house doesn't 'solve' anything. It probably will piss off Mott even more though and he will be howling in the next McMansion built about what an abomination it is. The Chens will continue being assholes. The rest don't give a poo poo.

Also, it's kinda lame how hillbilly the Polks were...I mean I get the whole stereotype thing but jesus loving christ dude. I've lived in LA, SF, Portland, Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans, Virginia, and sometimes go to the outer banks in NC... I've seen some hillbillies but even hillbillies have better digs now, dude. I'm not insulted 'culturally' so much as I am annoyed...not that I am watching this for any kind of realism or anything but good god, really, would have been cool it have been if the Polks in the reality show were shown as such disturbing primitive hillbillies but then the 'real' Polks were like all about having cable and running water and a sweet set of loveseats and gaming systems, just like modern regular hillbillies watching HGTV and Mama Polk is wearing something from the Laura Ashley collection and having some doll fetish or something. The civil war flag is framed neatly and respectfully at the entrance or some poo poo. They have a koi pond or something, I don't loving know.
I dunno. I think it would've been kind of great in contrast to show how Sidney's interpretation of the Polks was completely off the wall nuts (to echo Ryan Murphy's) and they decided to sue him or something.
Alright, getting too up my own rear end here, I just think, I've seen levels of this kind of insanity before in this show, why not now, it would've been kind of awesome.

Because it's lightly connected, the assistants quip about not being able to get a salad because "it's the south. Everything's fried down here" and I'm like bitch please, no matter how rural you get you're going to at least be near a mickey D's salad or a subway. North Carolina isn't that bad.

There's a few of them that have types. Taissa Farmiga's characters could actually be the same character if they didn't all end up dead. And as you said Evan Peters. The issue I find is that people always rave about Lange while complaining about the others lack of range and I just don't get it. Other than Asylum which I feel is the best version of that character, she's just been terribly obnoxious every other season.

I think she nailed the "southerner from a once pish posh family" in season one and wasn't exactly the same type of character she played the next three seasons.

I'm awaiting the Murder House/Coven crossover season after this one too, for two things, Jessica Lange being an old southern bitch and just the absolute trainwreck that season will be :allears:

E: I wonder if we're gonna see more Emma Roberts now the Scream Queens is gone.
