The problem there is that the umpire is in no position to make the call because he can't see the hand get in before the tag. They need to put a camera directly over home plate for those kind of calls.

The best part of seeing the replay is that it showed the ump was completely out of position to make a call. Edit: I honestly don't think I've ever seen a base runner get himself out like that. OG David Ross is in the on-deck
