I saw some car crash/road rage video the other day that claimed to show Mike Trout. It was a big black pickup and he was trying to force someone off the road. The only weird thing is it was supposed to be in Texas and I can't see any reason he would be driving there. Evidently this wreck was in a black Mercedes. I dunno, weird.

I am pleasantly surprised by how well the Mets are doing against them this series. I especially thought the Fernandez-Montero game was going to end in tears.

It looks like it was Trout. Both people in the video seem pretty stupid though. Hard for me to get to worked up about it when like 25% of the population become insane egomanic psychos when you put them in a car.

EXTREME ROAD RAGE

It seems like the truck cuts the guy off which is a dick move, but I don't see the truck trying to run anyone off the side of the road? The camera driver is going crazy on the horn and screaming and the truck lets him by without incident when the road goes to 2 lanes. He even gives him a sorry "toot toot" when the camera guy passes him.

The video looks like its from South Jersey on New Year's Day, so it could have been Trout.

Ah interesting, this is a longer version than what I saw. The one I saw was part of a compilation and it was edited and captioned in a way to make it seem like he was more aggressive. There's not a lot to it, seeing the longer version. Would have been funny if the guy tried to pick a fight and Mike Trout got out though. Seems like he might be a bad driver, considering this video and the fact that he rear ended stopped traffic in the incident the other night.

And lots of outfield adventures.

Not sure how many people around here still subscribe to BP but Sam Miller's leaving to join ESPN in October which also leaves the fate of Effectively Wild up in the air since I'm guessing ESPN and The Ringer don't play well together. In related news, are there any other daily baseball podcasts that aren't ESPN sponsored that are worth listening to?

Do we think that ESPN would forbid Sam Miller from doing something with an employee of The Ringer even if that something is
1) unaffiliated with The Ringer (Lindbergh does a Ringer MLB podcast on it's own now)
2) self-funded via patreon supporters

Cubs injured bullpen notes:

Strop threw a 25 pitch session Monday, felt good, reports say he could be back as early as September 9th.

Rondon threw a sesson Monday with no issues, will throw another before the game today. He's officially spent 15 days on the DL so he can be activated at any time.

Joe Smith may be activated off the 15-day DL today.

Dallas Beeler and Aaron Brooks were both officially moved to the 60-day DL, freeing up spots on the 40-man roster for potential AAA callups.

That Strop timeline is mind-boggling. I was kind of hoping Joe Smith would be banished to the land of wind and ghosts like Jason Motte was at the end of last season, though.
