Hello again, friend. Welcome to ADTRW, your Something Awful board of choice for posting about anime and manga without getting banned on the spot. Incredible. I guess they'll just let anyone have a board. Yes, I'm keeping this bit from the old thread, shut up. Whether your deal is getting into the action or chilling out with some quality slice of life, this is the If you'd like to get in touch with me regarding any issues, questions, or suggestions you may have, my contact information is in my profile. I also accept PMs. THE RULES 1. The same forum rules that apply everywhere else apply here Check ‘em out sometime. 2. Please actually like anime and manga This board is for liking anime and manga. If you don’t like anime and manga, or only like them “Ironically,” you are free to do so elsewhere. Liking these things doesn’t mean exempting them from criticism, but it does mean maybe don’t keep up with something just to tear it down, or casting aspersions on the medium as a whole. 3. Please support the official release Fan translations exist, and plenty of people use them. There are even a few licensors who look to them to gauge interest. It’s okay to link and discuss fan translations; all I ask is you support the series you like should they ever become available to you. Consider this a gentlemen’s agreement between those of us who wish to keep the industry alive. 4. Don’t post porn Straight up, if you post porn I will ban you. If you post it as a joke, I will ban you. If you try to pull a Clever Dan by cropping it or censoring it, I will ban you. Don’t post porn. 5. Don’t be a creep You don’t need to apologize for fanservice and it’s alright if you enjoy a raunchy comedy or two and enjoy talking about them, but if you post like an obnoxious pervert or a 13-year-old boy who just learned what sex is and wants everyone to know I will slap you until you stop. 6. Don’t be a brat Don’t have a meltdown because something didn’t go your way, don’t snap at somebody just because they expressed a dissenting or unpopular opinion, and don’t come into threads you don’t post in just to snipe at them or some poster. 7. Don’t rag on Japan Japan is a country with its own history and values and ways of doing things. Please don’t whine about how their values don’t always match up 1:1 with your own, or how they like the stuff you hate and hate the stuff you like because they suck because moe is ruining the industry because WSJ rewards adhering to a model over experimentation because Satoshi Kon died because because 8. Don’t take it personally, don’t make it personal Sometimes people on the Internet make jokes at each other’s expense. That’s cool, be cool. Sometimes people on the Internet dredge up personal baggage and harass each other, or sling poisonous accusations. That’s not cool. Don’t do it. 9. If you post lolicon or shotacon I will permaban you No excuses, no exceptions. *** SOME GUIDELINES On Posting Be excellent to each other and post from the heart...unless posting from the heart involves breaking the rules in which case by all means filter yourself. On Making Threads All threads should have a purpose, and ideally at least a little bit of effort put into the OP. You can try your luck with a low-effort thread, but if I don’t think it’s funny or going anywhere good I’ll gas it. “Stillborn” threads (threads which aren’t inherently bad but aren’t attracting posters) will no longer be gassed for inactivity, but you will be probated for bumping them if it’s clear nobody else other than you has a vested interest in keeping them alive. On Sharing Images If you’re posting more than five images in a row, or even just one enormous image, please [timg] tag them out of respect for our posters with feebler Internet connections and scrolling fingers. Obviously don’t worry about this if you’re posting smaller pictures. Use common sense. Any and all NSFW material must be remote linked, preferably with a warning. If the picture you just posted would probably get you in trouble with your boss who’s is also your mother and maybe a member of the clergy, link it remotely. If I have to link it for you I will slap you. On Discussing Spoilers We live in an era where new chapters and/or episodes are announced and released with a certain set-your-watch-by-it regularity, with simulcasts and fan translations soon to follow. Once a new release has been announced and/or linked to in its corresponding thread, discussion of its contents is free game and should not require spoiler tags. Please don’t whine to me or anyone else because you wandered into a thread on a day you knew there’d be something to talk about. Since spoilers seem to be our molehills of choice for turning into mountains, I’ll also ask you not be weird about them. If someone’s just throwing spoilers out there for no reason, report them. If someone’s whining about spoilers, report them. If someone’s whining about people whining about spoilers, report them. I will deal with all these people. Don’t derail the thread to engage them. On Reporting Report people for breaking the rules. I am but one man and couldn’t keep up with all these threads even if I wanted to. Your confidentiality is always assured, and you may feel free to PM me for a follow-up on any report you’ve filed that you think or feel I haven’t dealt with properly. That said, don’t report typos, grammatical errors, obvious (if unfunny) jokes, or people you just don’t like but haven’t done anything wrong. On Moderation I like to keep things flexible but I’ve no patience for people who don’t listen. I’m always willing to discuss these rules or any of my rulings concerning them - with the obvious exception of the last one - and have been known to change my mind on certain decisions, but until you manage to convince me otherwise, if I tell you to stop doing something then you’d best stop doing it. The old rules, provided here for your reading pleasure.
