It's not like there's extra money to be claimed by a married couple claiming dependents vs a single parent. The mother can claim any kids as dependents by default, no need to get married. If the mother is not employed and the grandmother supports all of them, then she can just file as Head of Household and claim her daughter and grandkids all as dependents. I'm not any kind of tax specialist or anything, but I don't see how marriage nets them any extra cash.
