A Goosebumps book was the very first book I ever read from beginning to end. I struggled a bit with Hooked on Phonics and basically just taught myself to read by sounding out all the words. I'd read a little bit of it every day on the drive to school and when I can even recall the moment, a sort of sudden revelation-like experience, where I realized that I was reading and it was a wonderful feeling. I'd go on to read probably thirty of those books in my elementary school and middle school years.
