Over the years I've seen several of the films of dying children, wounded civilians and even funerals that the Palestinians have produced for propaganda. Very believable stuff except for the drone footage where the kid forgot to keep his eyes closed or the dead man left the stretcher before he was buried. Well, in this case, they were expecting him to play hardball for The Cause. Like the AFR host said "He could have said, 'I'm not going to vote for any spending bill unless it also bans abortion/DEI/transing of our kids, and I insist all other Republicans do the same' and shut down the government". Massachusetts was one of the first states in the Union to abolish slavery. A large part of its white population is descended from immigrants (Irish, Italian, Portuguese, etc.) who came to America long after Massachusetts had abolished slavery--or even after the US as a whole had ended slavery.

Even in the South the large plantation owners were a tiny fraction of the white population. Whites whose families have been here since colonial times might have an ancestor or two way back who owned one or more slaves, but none of their current wealth comes from those remote ancestors.
