StrixNebulosa posted:That link doesn't work, and I know nothing about this show: why is it so hyped? On first glance it's just high school drama with some shogi, which doesn't sound like the next best thing like sliced bread? Because it's by the Honey & Clover lady. And because the manga is really good, which helps people feel excited sometimes.

Anime adaptation of Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho coming up in April next year: https://twitter.com/zeronosyo/status/782410730213552129 That title isn't confusing it all. And White Fox are making it.

Ungh, the March Lion adaptation was ridiculously good. I was just sitting there smothered in tears of joy from start to finish.

GorfZaplen posted:Why wouldn't it be? Well, it's Chinese. Edit: There's a bunch of shows this year that are Chinese productions with Japanese dubs or something, I dunno, and I've been wondering about the definition of "anime" and how to decide what titles are eligible for the Best of Year posts. Dictionary calls anime "Japanese style animation", so it's a bit vague. Not sure what this forum's opinion is. darkgray fucked around with this message at 18:45 on Oct 10, 2016 |

GorfZaplen posted:It's directd by Nabeshin, a japanese guy, and has lots of Japanese people working on it??? Unless 李豪凌 is some kind of pseudonym for Nabeshin, this doesn't seem to be correct. Nabeshin is credited as "supervisor for the Japanese language version", whatever that means. No idea who this "LAN" is, being credited for animation and character design and so on. Shows like Bloodivores and Soul Busters are also seemingly Chinese productions. Then there's Cheating Craft, which apparently is a Chinese product, except they've got the Katanagatari director heading the project, so that one's probably kind of Japanese sort of? It's complicated.

Uh, okay, so anything animated in Asia is now anime? What about that Urobuchi puppet thing?

The Colonel posted:why does this matter It matters because I have to compile a loving list of all the "anime" every year. I'd like to have some kind of rule set in mind when I'm digging through titles. Saying "omg Japanese people worked on it!!" isn't enough, because that would include all the South Park and Spongebob dubs as well, because spoiler they have Japanese actors.

Fansubs for the first episode of the Zaregoto OVA are out on Nyaa, seemingly. Nishio Ishin's debut work - the author of Bakemonogatari and Katanagatari, etc.

No, I'm done. Ten years is enough. Better if someone else revamps it.
