There are teenage divisions for almost all rodeo events and some rural schools will have livestock raising and some minor forms of rodeo competition as well. There's even a national high school rodeo association.

High schoolers in rodeos is not some unique or rare thing, although participating in adult divisions probably is more so.

If there's one thing we know 100% about Cerrone it's that if there's something dangerous to do and he's not especially well equipped to do it at the time, such as riding a big rear end bull while a teenager, he's going to do it.

I knew about a half dozen people in my high school that rode broncs or bulls. It really isn't that crazy if you're in the southwest.

I mean, yeah, riding bulls is crazy. I'm saying that people in high school riding them isn't really that absurd depending on the part of the world your grew up in.

EDIT: It is hard to find a semi-decent version of Rodeo by Garth Brooks on youtube.

No, it is absolutely crazy. Just not uncommon. Wild horses are scary enough and 2000 lbs bulls with horns is just terrifying. Rodeo clowns are also insane bad-asses.

Anyway, I was watching the first Mighty Mouse - Dodson fight last night and forgot how badly DJ messed him up in the last two rounds. It makes Cejudo's plan of winning the clinch against Johnson look even more baffling. At some point Goldberg said DJ had landed over 100 kicks and knees.

To be honest, being from the UK bull riding only seems as crazy as American Football so I would have believed you if you said it was part of the actual school experience.

Ever watch Friday Night Tykes? Texan adults going mental for 10 year olds competing for the most brain damage accumulated in a year. I'd rather take my chances letting my kid ride a few bulls.

I got crazy behind on DVRd events and stuff and checked out for like a month, ultimately deciding not to bother trying to watch all the fight nights from the last month.

Did I miss any interesting or hilarious events while I've been away?

I still love the bit near the end of the fourth where Mighty Mouse knees Dodson in the head about fifteen times in a row and blood just slowly splatters down onto the canvas because Dodson can't do a loving thing, then he finally breaks away and swings all wild and Mighty Mouse just springs around him, tagging him, and Joe Rogan says, "DJ is out championshipping him."

You can talk about steroids all you like in the context of how they're affecting the sport or whatever; just don't start chatting about cycles and how they affect you or other posters. That's what the TCC thread's for.

Someone in the TCC thread just posted a long list of benefits of using Cialis when doing other steroids and I wasn't sure where to post about it because you may remember Jon Jones is apparently claiming that his positive test was a false positive caused by Cialis metabolites.

So I'm just throwing that there and I have no idea if that's allowed or if I should have posted that in the other thread, but i found it pretty MMA-topical anyway.

Also a huge 180. The crowd was cheering Rockhold and booing Bisping and went completely opposite once Bisping KO'd him.

For me it was still the Anderson and Rousey KOs. As someone who only started really paying attention to MMA last year, is Bisping one of those guys you'd have to have been following for a while to understand why it was so big?

Basically yes. Before he got his short-notice title fight, Bisping was known as the guy who would go on a 3-4 fight win streak and then lose in a #1 contender fight. He was synonymous with "Best fighter to have never fought for a UFC title in his whole career" even while he was still active.

Also Rockhold had already soundly beaten Bisping a year or two before the rematch.

So Bisping was coming in on two weeks notice, against a guy with size and reach on him who had already finished him pretty handily. No one gave the guy a shot, but also I don't think anyone thought Rockhold would abandon most of his advantages and try to KO Bisping in spectacular fashion, only to get knocked spectacularly knocked out himself.

Bisping was the epitome of a gatekeeper, someone who stayed fairly consistent and could beat lovely or flawed fighters but lost to every deservedly top 10 guy he ever fought. Prior to Rockhold, his best win was probably Brian Stann and his best performance was losing to Chael Sonnen on short notice. He had pretty good cardio, volume, takedown defenseband foot work, but wasn't remarkable at any other area of fighting. On top of that, he's been fighting for over a decade, his eye injury put him out for a year and gives him lingering minor vision problems and that cardio that has historically been among his only strengths may be waning based on his last few fights (some minor speculation abounds if that's just him getting old or if getting off/on fewer PEDs is the culprit) so he was considered to be be in his decline. He also had no power of note due to the way he's constantly on his feet when striking, all of his tkos were either volume accumulation to extremely gassed opponents or blatant illegal strikes.

So this pillow fisted old guy who was on his first win streak in like four years and held a ufc record for most wins without a title shot came in on short notice against a bigger, younger, stronger, more athletic champion who had previously effortlessly destroyed him, and proceeded to knock him the gently caress out in the first round. Yeah, it's legitimately the biggest upset of the year over Diaz beating McGregor.
