I'm partly nervous since Hendricks did give up 2 runs in only 4 innings before he went out in Game 2 of the NLDS. So I'm worried the Dodgers are going to hit him well.

Mr. McGibblets posted:Why would Hendricks want to pitch tonight? Let Arrieta look silly against him instead. Hell, I'm so resigned to Kershaw winning tonight's game, that Lackey might as well go out so we save Hendricks and Arrietta for Games 3 and 4.

I really hope Hendricks does turn into a Maddux-Style pitcher, and spends his entire career on the Cubs.

Also a reminder that when people talk about Kershaw struggling in October, it's really just against the Cardinals. The Cardinals have his number for some reason.

Of course I won't be too upset if we lose this series to the Dodgers - it's hard to compete against a team that spent more than $100 million more on payroll than the Cubs.

bawfuls posted:The Cubs were not cash-strapped their owners are just cheap, like pretty much all MLB ownership groups. Actually go educate yourself some on the restrictions that had been in place due to how the Tribune sold the team to the Ricketts, and between that and the bad contracts that were on the books, there wasn't much flexibility. Prior to the sale though, yeah, the Tribune definitely went through periods of spending and being absolutely cheap.

Kyle knows he can't hit Kershaw, just watches every pitch. And yeah, only 31 pitches through three, so he's gonna go 7 or 8 I bet.
