Motherfucker. And I've been trying to work out payment arrangements for months with those dickheads, and they refuse to accept anything except the full amount all at once. Not trying to get them to knock anything off, just trying to get them to accept multiple smaller payments instead of one giant payment.

I guess blocking me from renewing my registration (and thus making it illegal for me to get to work) will suddenly make all that money appear in my bank account. :fuckoff:

There IS spark since I can see the igniter module making a spark when it comes on, but there's no gas getting to the igniter module. That's telling me that the aluminum tube from the valve is clogged or the valve itself isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing (i.e. making gas go to things).

Does that furnace have a flame sensor? because relay clicking, ignition working and no gas sounds very much like a faulty sensor. im no furnace expert, but all my techs would drag me to the back of the buses we had with faulty webastos, (works very much like a furnace) and try to talk me into outsourcing the work due to its placement in buses when i ran a bus depot. i allways ended up saying that they had to do the work, but i offered to join them in talking poo poo about mercedes engineers while they worked.

i digressed, but ye, check if you have a flame sensor, if you do, it might just need to have soot removed.

fjelltorsk!! :neckbeard:

I'm basing this on my own experiences with furnaces (which range from mid 70s to mid 90s stuff), but I'm pretty sure if it's not even trying to light (as in not opening the gas valve), it's not going to be the flame sensor. Stuff that has a pilot will be a bit different (still has a sensor of some kind, just a lot slower to react), but almost every furnace I've been around had an ignitor of some sort.

When I've seen a flame sensor crap out, the furnace will still light for a couple of seconds, then it goes off, and eventually tries to light again a couple of minutes later. And even if it doesn't light, if the valve is opening, you get the lovely smell of Tetrahydrothiophene.

If the furnace has any kind of built-in diagnostic, it'll probably be giving a code for why it's not lighting. Otherwise, I'd probably look at the high temp cutouts first. You can bypass them (TEMPORARILY) for troubleshooting, but you definitely don't want to leave them bypassed. For anything beyond that, Motronic (or whatever his name is these days) would be the most knowledgeable.

DIY has an HVAC thread too, but it's not very active.

A common problem I have had with gas furnaces is air in the gas line. This happens if the meter is removed for whatever reason or if the tank has run dry. You can either keep trying to let it ignite or carefully unscrew the drip loop and purge the line manually. I totally understand if that's not something you want to do yourself.

If the furnace is trying to ignite (the spark) this usually means all the rollout and pressure switches are ok.

Edit: you should check the rollout switches anyways. There is usually a button on the switch you can press to reset it. If the furnace suddenly works make sure the switch didn't trip for a reason.

Actually that leads to a stupid question.

Did you pay your gas bill? If a furnace is your only gas thing in the house, I could totally see you not noticing your gas is shut off until your furnace stops working.

I think he bought the house recently. The gas meter may have been removed if the house was vacant for some time. Air can also get in the lines if the city has done work nearby.

The city my employer is in will actually come out and purge lines/light pilots if needed. You should check with them as well.

Never had that one, but since very few people here pay to keep their boats in the water, everyone who has a boat generally has a vehicle that can tow it to and from the lake.

I'll let my mom borrow my Jeep to haul poo poo, since I think it's the only vehicle anyone in my immediate family owns with a trailer hitch (and I've borrowed vehicles from her many, many, many times). Otherwise, go rent something.
