Khabib is going to thoroughly khabib Michael Johnson and you guys will all see!!

The fact that Khabib thoroughly mauled the guy who then went on to make one of the best runs in LW history immediately afterward says pretty good things about him I would think

I don't want this to sound like a "RDA was always bad" post because I don't believe that, but I don't buy the train of thought that dos Anjos has lost a step and it's all USADA's fault either. I think he's on the same spot he's been in for years, where he is very good and a problem for most fighters but also has his flaws and is beatable for most of the top 10 on a good night. He definitely turned a corner and improved over his career, but title run got turned into "one of the best of all time" because he'd been around forever in the top 10 but hadn't made it to a title yet so it seemed like he finally shot to the top, but he won the title against a guy he was tailor made to beat, and he defended the title against a guy he'd already beaten, then he got owned by Alvarez.

So on that note I think he's a good win for Khabib, but we can also deduce Khabib is probably about as good as Jeremy Stephens or Clay Guida four years ago.

Well for example when people were saying it about lhw when the title went like chuck, rampage, Forrest, rashad, machida, Shogun in the span of a few years where no one defended the title (except machida once). All those guys were thought to be not good at the time except for machida who was thought to be unfuckwithable. Then machida lost on his second defense and has gone 6-6 since. Also everyone else has done worse than that.

Flyweight has a handful of very good fighters but very little depth. If Johnson starts to slow down he might start losing more often but I honestly don't believe his accomplishments are due to some uniquely weak field of competition due to his wins over guys who have had lots of success at 135 as well. And also his wins at 135.

Yeah people like to say this about flyweight but in mighty mouse's title run there's only really been two fighters who shouldn't honestly have gotten there, Moraga and Cariaso. With that track record I'd argue his title reign is at least as meaningful as Anderson Silva's.

Can someone explain to me why McGregor didn't want to make a title defense at Featherweight? The two guys they've got fighting for contendership right now seemingly aren't that impressive, and they wouldn't have given Aldo an immediate rematch after getting dunked in 7 seconds...right? Seems like easy money to me.

McGregor has to cut an unhealthy amount of weight to make featherweight, being the third person to hold a belt in two divisions is a big deal and adds to his marketing muscle, and current market research suggests he can still win two fights out of three against UFC lightweights so it's not like he isn't making a bunch of money at 155+ either.

With fighter contracts, if a fight is cancelled & they pay out the able but victimized remaining participant [say, Cerrone at UFC 205], does this count as a 'completed fight' on the fighter's contract?

Transitioning away from 'Fighter of The Year' talk for a second, can we get some votes for 'Most Hated Fighter'. I know Conor gets it almost by default because of the sheer volume of debate about his title defense plans but let's assume he gets a Lifetime Achievement Award in this field and is no longer eligible. Who would you guys take?

I have a lot of hate for Luke Rockhold and loved his Bisping comeuppance but the dark horse contender for me has to be my man, 'Platinum' Mike Perry.

Bjorn may have a bad rap from Bellator, but he's a great lawyer and union rep. He's really looking out for the little guys, from the bottom of his heart. Best promoter of all time. In fact, I bet if he had my dog somewhere right now, he wouldn't do anything bad to it, because he knows that dog is family to us and we'd be devestated. And Bjorn Rebney is a great guy, much better than Dana White.
