Are there speakers that have stereo/mono 1/4" inputs so that I can either run them as monitors from a DI box or connect the 1/4" stereo line out from my computer?

I bought a pair of JBL LSR305s which had this review:

2.0 out of 5 starsTOTALLY AMATEURISH! IF YOU BUY THEM, YOU'D BETTER PLAN ON BUYING SOME LONGER POWER CABLES TOO!

Wow! I may post further details on this product later (positive and/or negative in nature), but I've just received a set of these here today, and I can safely say this much . . . the power cables provided for each speaker are barely 5-feet long. Seriously! I ask you, what kind of an "idiot" markets and ships a studio monitor speaker with a 5-foot long cable? We've got a set of $5,000 arranger/synth/keyboards sitting here, barely 3-feet beneath a bookshelf, and the power cables won't even reach the freaking floor!?!@#$%&? I don't care HOW nice these speakers might sound in the end, or how long they might last, they are worth avoiding altogether (as a message to JBL), solely because of the stupidity of these JBL so-called "engineers". Nothing but laughable amateurs! Wake-up, people!

the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 setup that I have at work is nice but super pricey for what it is and also primarily USB

if you're going to go USB you could try to get some original Harmon-Kardon SoundSticks, I remember those being pretty nice

if you want cheap but good, I have a set of 1996-vintage Altec Lansing ACS31 speakers on my desk at home (with the subwoofer under it) and they've always sounded surprisingly good, you can probably find something like them for almost nothing at Goodwill because people think old=bad

same for the Bose Roommate speakers that I previously mentioned, I know it sounds like a joke but they sounded pretty great to me and you can probably find them for next to nothing (unless they're the early ones with the Apple logo on them, then they're $TEXAS)

edit: OK they're not next to nothing, but someone has a pair of Bose Roommate speakers on eBay right now for US$65

I rolled my own with a couple 150w class D amps from Sure Electronics, some component 6.5" Rockford/Fosgate car speakers in bookshelf boxes and a 10" Kicker subwoofer. It sounds great and will rattle the whole house if you really crank it up. I think I spent around $200 for everything.
