By my count it is Chicago's turn to win the cup again so it's nice that everyone is cooperating with that endeavor.

DirectTV's online only offerings just added a bunch of NHL teams (plus NFL/NBA but who cares about them) for people looking to cord cut: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/12/directv-online-only-plan-has-many-of-your-local-sports-teams-covered/ quote:Anaheim Ducks

Furnaceface posted:So... how long until he gets traded? Well, if he takes the Nash route it'll be 2026, but he hasn't had to suffer through the dark times or horrific management that Nash dealt with for nine of those seasons yet so you might be able to add some time to that estimate. If he goes the way of Brass, it's because he was part of a deal which sent him to New York in part because he was redundant/expendable. If it's The Way of The Mase, he'll have devolved into an overpaid pile of poo on skates who even the fans turn on but the GM still really, really thinks will return to Calder territory someday, but he'll be traded by the new GM because the old GM found a player of significantly higher quality. Choose your own adventure!

That'd be the ultimate irony seeing as Johansen's trade led to acquiring the defensive partner with whom Werenski's played his best hockey (Jones).

I remember someone that played in Canada explained that it was not unusual for there to be a pitcher at each end of the rink and that it was fairly normal for losers to buy the next round. Sounds like a great time to me.

I'm beginning to think Barry Trotz is not a very good coach. His offensive system consists of grinding down low and filtering the puck to the blue line for a blast from the point and pray it goes in. It also kind of explains why they can't score in the playoffs under Trotz: opponents are more willing to block point shots come the postseason. There's no real system for generating high quality scoring chances.
