Twelve hours for all three? Yikes. Dark Souls 3 alone took me ~83 hours - though that was my first playthrough of course, to be fair. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to catch it live; lots of family stuff on this weekend. Sort of a shame, because it might have made for a good distraction since... bman in 2288 posted:Nah, my life just went to hell recently, and I'm still recovering. ... I know this feeling. I don't know what bman is going through specifically, but I had to have one of my back molars extracted yesterday, so I'm in my own personal recovery hell right now, and it tastes like blood. (All the time.) Anyway, do you think you'll put it on your youtube channel afterwards, CJacobs? vvvvvvvvvvvvv Edit: Thanks - and good luck with the stream. vvvvvvvvvvvvvv Antistar01 fucked around with this message at 07:49 on Aug 18, 2017 |

Oh yeah, it'll definitely be up once the stream is over. Might take a couple days to process the stream, more if it ends up getting split into parts by YouTube. But yes, like my previous 12h streams, it will be archived for future generations to laugh at me swearing more and getting a scratchier throat as the day proceeds into the night! Sorry you guys are having a hard time, believe me I know how you feel. Definitely will have you along in spirit though!

In my last year of college, my wisdom tooth grew in. It really sucked, but in the end, it wasn't impacting anything, so everything is okay. That has nothing to do with what I'm dealing with right now, but I can tell you one thing: at least I'm not Alan Wake. Then things would definitely be worse.

I really like this DLC actually. It reminds me of the trippier parts of Dishonored when you hang out with the Outsider.

The 12 hour Dark Souls series marathon is live! Can I beat all three games in 12 hours?? Will I die a thousand deaths and give up in frustration?? The answer to both is probably no! Come hang out with me all day!

Alan Wake is like these broken chains. I forgot the rest of it, but physics. The only bad thing about the DLC and American Nightmare, is how little dicking around the game lets me do. It already is tearing him a new rear end in a top hat, so I can't contribute any further.

i think the final dlc for alan wake probably has the highest concentration of setpieces i enjoy in the entire game. there's a few that haven't even happened yet and they happen to be some of my actual favorites. you can tell that remedy just absolutely stopped caring about trying to have things make relative sense and went with making a bunch of fun areas for the player to go through all while having it more or less work given the story.

I feel like I'm being a bit of a grumpybum here, but I'm afraid I didn't like the Alan Wake DLC. It felt like what it is; a bunch of pre-existing assets strung together in a slapdash fashion and trotted out as DLC. It also felt like the story didn't go anywhere because they were obviously in a holding pattern while they waited to see if they got funding to do a sequel. I liked exploring the town and surrounds in the main game; it felt like a reasonably believable place - and I liked how the events of the main game felt at least somewhat grounded in reality too (with an undercurrent of something else going on). That's obviously all thrown out the window in the DLC.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIIqFQnyvVQ The archive for my 11-ish hour 12 hour stream is up and ready for watching! I can't believe my internet held up for the entire duration! Thank you all for watching, it was a lot of fun and drew in the most viewers I think I've ever had on a stream. It's okay, I can understand this complaint. Really there's two minds about the DLC: Either you really really buy into the disconnected dreamlike nature of it, or you don't! It's really reliant on the gimmick, and if the gimmick doesn't appeal to you then you won't enjoy it nearly as much. I think they do more than enough to make it feel different than just wandering through places you've seen before, especially in The Writer, but at its core the scenery is comprised mostly of retreading old ground.

I've been watching and enjoying the stream archive; thanks for the huge stream! It has indeed been a good distraction from the slowly healing hole in my jaw. Did I hear right, though? $10000 for a single CAT scan? Holy moly. I've recently been discovering to my expense that Medicare (in Australia) doesn't cover dental work, but I'm very glad it does cover general medical things, as I had to have a CAT scan myself when I was in hospital for the better part of a week earlier this year. Along with a bunch of other tests. That whole ordeal didn't cost me anything. Except a whole lot of blood. Man they really poked me full of holes. Sorry, probably not what you want to hear. (I don't think I could survive in America. Yikes.) Anyway, yeah; Dark Souls. The stream is actually sort of making me want to play Dark Souls 2 again, which I didn't think was possible. It had felt like once was more than enough.

The 10,000 dollars wasn't just for the CT scan but yes, it really was that expensive. They charged me for: - The CT scan - The ultrasound therapy to break up the kidney stones - The room (???) They didn't charge me for any of the medicine, the doctor fees, or the specialist care. And I filed a counter-claim saying basically "that's bullshit, I have insurance so that I don't have to pay for those things" but it was denied as "not medically necessary". Upon doing a little research, I found out that my coverage actually doesn't include kidney stones, which is insane given how many people get them. Their official excuse is that I didn't need the treatment (and they're wrong), but the real reason is because it's just not something they cover. But they didn't inform me of that, I had to look it up myself, so they clearly know it's a terrible thing to do to someone. Definitely switching to a different insurance company when it comes time. Antistar01 posted:Anyway, yeah; Dark Souls. The stream is actually sort of making me want to play Dark Souls 2 again, which I didn't think was possible. It had felt like once was more than enough. American healthcare sounds like the most frustrating thing!
|
# ? Aug 22, 2017 08:51 |

They actively look for reasons and loopholes they can use to deny claims. If doctor signatures or documents don't match up even for like minor spelling errors they will actively deny the claims. The american healthcare system is a for-profit industry that is based on essentially giving people money. They have a vested interest in denying literally every claim they see. It's absolutely hosed and the fact that people can have life threatening health issues and they can deny it as not medically necessary is absolutely disgusting. Anyhow the dark souls stream is good and fun, shame I wasn't able to be there for any of it.

Yeah, that's the catch. If they had deemed it medically necessary (it was I couldn't have passed the stones without the ultrasound therapy to break them up wtf) then they would have had to cover it regardless of whether it's on the plan or not. But because it meant they wouldn't have to cover it, they said it wasn't! edit: And I don't mean for this to become the Cjacobs Complains About His Medical Issues thread again, but it's a pretty important part of my life right now and it's hindering my ability to make videos for you! On the bright side, there's only one more video left for our dear friend Alan for now and it's gonna be coming this weekend so look forward to it! Tomorrow is my birthday, so I'm going to be streaming The Evil Within in the afternoon and evening! However, the game surprised me by remembering that camera hack I did a long while back to put the game in first person mode. So I made a twitter poll: https://twitter.com/CJacobsSA/status/900826158274621442 https://twitter.com/CJacobsSA/status/900826350088597505 Do you want me to play in first person on the stream or go with the classic Over Seb's Shoulder view?

Looking forward to how AN changes everything up. Not looking forward to how hard it is to make your own fun. They did fix the collision detection of objects merging together, like those chairs I painstakingly tapped to surround people. I am going to miss jumping on the heads of people now that we are off Alan Wake. I did come across a PSX game where you are able to walk on other people's heads and they move around like nothing is wrong. I do like taking the piss out of the characters as well, but they develop a better personality than Alan Wake.
