It's just shameful if you don't have a dedicated computer running Plex or Kodi hooked up to your TV for real viewing You don't even need to install a video player to watch youtube cat videos on your pc

I've heard vlc has issues with properly displaying dark colors/black stuff. That was a couple years ago, maybe it's not true anymore.
