The Obama years have been a mess, but this is even more true for video games than almost anything else. If I had to rank the things that have suffered the most over the past 8 years, I'd probably say: 1) Yemen 2) Video Games 3) White Males But I want to focus on #2. Obama's policies led to an endless string of survival crafting games that never left Beta, 3rd person mixed genre games that mostly existed to tell failed movie scripts, and an endless stream of mother. loving. zombies. I think we can agree- neoliberalism can no longer produce good games. But where do we turn? What ideology and institutions should young gamers through their weight (haha) behind to get us out of this rut?

most RTS games are socialist if you think about it. in starcraft your marines are not paying for the health care they receive they do not pay for their bullets or for anything else really

I've run the numbers and it turns out that subsidising video games with taxes makes the best games, op. - Bioware is funded by the public and made/makes great stuff (shame about the audio bugs lately, perhaps their guy for that needs to go to a gamer gulag idk) - Rockstar North. Need I say more??? - DXHR was pretty great and didn't even feature too much Canada which is often a problem Canadians have.

The answer depends on what you're looking for in games. In terms of sheer aesthetics, Hitler would have been phenomenal, and his flair for stage craft has never been matched. The MMO genre would have gone properly mainstream under Hitler, to the point where Hitler would have subverted political boundaries through gaming. He'd be what Kojima's biggest fans think he is, but more. Any other fascist would be trash though, so fascism in general is a bad bet, so just go for socialism and get a bunch of great re-educational games.
