Eh, basically that. For example, in the TLC show "Breaking Amish" they show "Amish defectors" learning about life in the new modern wooorld! Only, it turns out that they've identified the "former Amish" as commercial actresses. Similarly, in Extreme Cheapskates, the individual on the pilot episode claims to be a CPA obsessed with thrift. Surprise, she's also a bit part actress. They're literally all fake. Panel shows aren't all 100% fake 100% of the time but it's an open secret the panelists get the questions in advance so they have time to come up with funny answers, and they're ruthlessly edited, sometimes just to make one person seem stupid for the home audience's entertainment. This is why they have jokes like the points on QI "not mattering" or being "secret". It's to ease the misleading editing process. Similarly, a family member of mine lives in the bush in Alaska, and the shows about Alaskan bush life are a joke up there. They're literally just fake. They're fake shows. Same with the Gold Diggin' Morons who are here and there around the country. It's nooot reaaaaal.

They also wrote The Osbournes and Keepin up with the Kardashians. Bridalplasty is actually done, and they record it, but the plastic surgery is done because they offer it for free if the women agree to be taped and follow instructions to act like jerkoffs for the camera.

Only true 90's kids remember when TLC had actual educational programming on because it was marketed as The Learning Channel.

I had a TLC episode once. It was part of a series where young couples buy a house. We basically...errr......recreated our experience buying a house. Add took some heavy liberties with how much inter-personal conflict there was when purchasing a house. Also they made me look really really dumb (dumber than normal|) and made my wife kinda neurotic and insecure. 50 hour work week. $1000 in the bank ($500 per person). 2/10 would not do again.

Gold diggin morons are largely real. They play up aspects and create drama (like every reality show) that isn't there but they're real gold mines and they're really mining gold.

I knew some folks on "Cheaters," and they just made up some story. It was all pretend, but the cash was real! Also the host getting stabbed that time was real. 500 seems a little chintzy.
