Sorry in advance if these selections aren't obscure enough, just picking some things I feel like nobody I know personally seem to recognize.

Been really getting into Chinese Man lately. Reminds me of Nujabes a little bit but much more samply.

There's also "she" that's more in that "some eastearn european dude" territory. Can be a little generic and sometimes *ANIME* but it can be some pretty cool sounding stuff.

Doomtree's newest album is also pretty good, imo.

Agreed. I think that it's a combination. Older works tend to have more of a purity in it's experimentation, but newer ones take what works before and either improves or relies on. For any artistic medium it's about finding a middle ground.

your idea of a "middle ground" between the past and the present is artificial. it's a completely arbitrary distinction unless you're talking about music made the exact instant you're thinking about it (i.e. unless you're a jazz performer). everything today will be 50 years old five decades from now, everything already made once had yet to exist.

Well yeah I mean if we're talking about literally all art created forever. Granted, I was being very general, but I'd like to think that we're referring to what's relevent now. It's not as though electronic is a classic genre. But otherwise, yeah sure, what will exist decades from now will be completely different and likely be called something else, if I understand you correctly.

I suppose I just think if we're talking about the short term, what's old will be clunky but burdgeoning, what's new will be innovative but tired, and so it goes.

Excuse me if I'm babbling, I'm into my sixth drink and distracted by D&D.

I heard somewhere that words like "relevant" and "relatable" have only become buzz words in the past ten years or so. Language is funny like that.

e2: Goddamn people can claim that the SNES had better sound and music all they want, but Sega's unique sound will always have a very special place in my heart.

Boy, do I miss out on some poo poo when I don't allow embedded videos. Everything else included that is. I have to wonder if there's any way we can get this onto some sort of BYOB Choice Pack in the most legal way possible so I can listen to everything offered in a most efficent, German way as Pizza intended. (much like that of a Dusseldorf bus schedule)

Anyway, I present to you the superior Fortune Teller theme.

The Not a Hero sound track had some surprising gems. I can certainly submit that chiptune isn't a great genre as a whole, but I've found that the best of it actually has a beat and takes a little inspiration from actual game tunes, as opposed to that weird Anamanaguchi style crap. (Although the Scott Pilgrim Game OST had some good ones)

Okay! BYOB Massive Music Mix #1 is ready to go. PM me if you would like the archive... containing the playlist.
I'm also available through Steam.

The only things I believe that are not included were the German Beatles and the demo version of GOT IT GOOD. Again, this playlist should contain just about everything up until Pizza made his CD.
I'd also added exactly one Nujabes song, as it was playing while I searched and I felt it matched the generally chill BYOB vibe.
