Righto

So the information I got from my ISP is that our modem was cooked so I've got a new one and I still can't connect

Important stuff
Optus NBN (fibre to the node, copper line to the home)
Netgear D7000
Previous modem isp supplied sagemcom

I've connected the modem exactly the same way as the previous and it's getting a line connection but won't connect to the internet. Is there some settings I may have overlooked?

Did you buy your own modem? If so, you probably have to give the ISP the MAC address of the modem so they can white-list it on their network.

Ah poo poo I hadn't even thought of that option. But the other issue is that even with their modem I get no connection unless somehow the MAC address on the modem has changed without us actually changing it

I thought you said the old modem died and that's why you got a new one? Did you call your ISP about the new modem?

Based on your last post I'm confused. Did they send you a new modem, or did you buy your own modem.

If they sent you a modem, it should be white-listed on their network and something is wrong and you need to call them again.

If you bought your own modem, you need to call them and give them the MAC so they can allow it on the network or it won't work.

Either way, you probably have to call them again.

i bought a new modem at the local store, and they have sent a new modem from the ISP that hasnt arrived yet. I also managed to find an old modem they sent at the last NBN place i lived at and tried it, it didnt work either. I called and tried to explain to the offshore (indian call centre) tech to try use my new MAC but he thought it would be ok. Fucks me aye. I've tried numerous modems now to no avail. Will see what happens with the next modem that shows up
