I've always been a fan of Fender Jazz Basses.  Also, I love robin's egg blue guitars, especially with gold or brass pick guards:  I prefer the strat body, though, but I couldn't find a picture with both.

I have a friend who had a Gibson SG-1 that was beat to hell and ugly. His brother took it to be refinished for a birthday present. The guitar shop called him back saying "Man you got to come take a look at this before we refinish it", it turned out to have a really kickass wood grain underneath it all, and they just shot it with varnish and called it a day. I always thought it looked really nice. (The only thing I can play is the radio.)
