Frankly every single person I meet making that argument is broke themselves. Here's a hint: it doesn't matter because success in a capitalist system is immaterial to the criticisms being levied against it you stupid shitlords. loving of course the people with the most are usually saying it's awesome and the people with the least usually dislike it. So what? This argument only holds merit if it is somehow BAD or IMMORAL to be a poor person. Which it isn't.

Know what people are doing now? Retail arbitrage. What's that? They have stats to show them popular items on Amazon and average prices then when those items are cheaper elsewhere they buy and ship directly to fulfilled by Amazon warehouses and resell to people for the profit margin. No real work involved on their end at all, just money tied up in inventory. People complain their thing has Walmart packaging and you get shut down? Pf open a new account. Here's the thing though - publicly owned companies are already run by shareholder vote. Shareholders vote for board members and vote on board propositions and salaries and all of that. Simplified, the problem is that the majority shareholders tend to be the company owners and not the employees.

And there are tons of ESOPs that operate like that in the real world. Publix is an ESOP and everyone on here loves their sandwiches apparently. Mondragon has existed for decades.

And if you're an idiot who can't work a register then you might get let go before you are there long enough to qualify for the profit sharing but thems the breaks in capitalism I guess. But the employees still have a stake in the profits and thus care about the quality of their own work and that of their fellow employees.

Obviously the kid that just got hired isn't voting on who their direct supervisor is c'mon dude lol.

Shareholders aren't dependent on their occupation within the company to survive. Employee groups with a stake in the process like unions are notorious for often negotiating themselves out of jobs or setting up policies that gently caress over the majority of the workforce to benefit a select few.

wouldn't someone dependent on the company surviving to keep their job be more inclined to give a poo poo about what they are doing and to vote with the company's best interests in mind?

as opposed to say a particular Sears shareholder who systematically stripped the corporation of its assets and sold them off to other corporations he owned and then hosed thousands out of their pensions at Sears?

quote:

Employee groups with a stake in the process like unions are notorious for often negotiating themselves out of jobs or setting up policies that gently caress over the majority of the workforce to benefit a select few.

The thing is you can vote those people out. You can't vote out a majority shareholder who lives in the Bahamas and always votes no on raising wages.
