I "found" the Crystal Heart in c2 , which was super easy, but I have no idea how to actually get it

It took me quite awhile to finish chapter 1-B, then I sat and contemplated how to get the crystal heart for chapter 1. It took me awhile but I finally figured it out. I was way overthinking it.

It's pretty cool how all the blue hearts are brainbusters and the read hearts are uh... skill... busters? Regy Rusty fucked around with this message at 05:42 on Jan 26, 2018 |

I haven't even seen a loving red heart lol. Currently getting my balls busted by this bull poo poo room in 2B. please tell me I'm close to the end of this world lol now that I'm attempting the b-side stuff I'm starting to love this game for entirely different reasons than I did going through the story (which was great, by the way)

Also I don't think the game makes this clear (and I don't think it works this way for other levels) but your progress in B-sides gets saved to whatever screen you're on. You can even get partway through one B-side, go start up another one, and then resume the one you were playing previously. Pretty generous and makes things a lot less stressful knowing you don't have to marathon them

Definitely a load off, that's also why I persevered to the bitter end in 2B lol

This game rules extremely loving hard. I got the red and blue hearts and all berries for ch1, blue heart and all berries for 2 and just beat 3 with some stuff left that I'll do tomorrow. This game is already getting hard as hell and I can't wait to go insane trying to fully clear it.

Expect My Mom posted:I think just selecting Save and Quit keeps you where you left off? I remember a tip popping up saying something like that but maybe the B Sides work differently Yeah, Save and Quit does that with any level, but if you select your file again it puts you back in the level, you can't go do other levels.

I was sold when I saw you can play a Pico8 version of the game in the game. I've needed something to replace Dead Cells and Caveblazers since I've been burned out on playing those for hours on end. What's the average playtime for each chapter looking like so far?

Looking at my times (ignoring almost all optional stuff) the first two took me 15 minutes, the other 5 took me between 30 minutes and an hour. There's an eighth chapter I haven't unlocked and there are also alternate B-side versions of each one that are much harder (the only one I've beaten took me 40 minutes)

I was kinda worried it'd be short at first, but hearing all the content and challenges this game has, it sounds like I'll have this on my plate for a while. A friend of mine was dismissive of Celeste because it was $20 and he saw someone had already beaten it in 2.5 hours and I could not get him off this track. He literally went and paid $14 to see a 90 minute movie the other day, but clutches to the One Dollar An Hour For Video Game standard

also for anyone whos beaten 1-B what am I even trying to do in this room? I've been stumped on it since yesterday, I have no idea how it's possible to cross

It's really tough. You need to land on the moving platform, have the spring bounce you up, dash across and fall fast enough to land on the other side of the platform before it goes back, duck and ride it to the center column, then wall jump up and jump with enough momentum to let you dash up and over those top spikes. Good luck.

If you have to do what I think you have to do with the Crystal Hearts once you collect em all, that's pretty clever. Check out the screen in the journal where it shows them, there's an interesting bit to the interface there

i picked this up last night and beat chapters 1 and 2 and the b sides. cool game. i liked the clone gimmick from the N games in the 2 b-side. makes me wish the switch controllers weren't such pieces of crap tho. i know shigeru miyamoto personally murdered gunpei yokoi but that doesn't mean that they had to make the worst d pad of all time on the pro controller just to sully his memory.

It's weird, when I did a lot of Zelda 3 rando, I had to use the xbone dpad, but I've gone through shovel knight, and now playing this, using the analogue stick in portable mode. There's probably just less reliance on diagonal inputs in something sidescrolling than overhead. Even then, it's very infrequent for me to miss a diagonal dash with the stick. Certainly feels better than playing with the arrow buttons in portable mode.goferchan posted:

Cleared Chapter 3 and holy poo poo, that was Involved. I spent well over an hour there and managed to get all the Strawberries on my first run through, but my deaths in there were almost 500. Not a single clue about the Crystal Heart. Didn't find one in Chapter 2 either, these things are fuckers

In the middle of the 2-B levels and taking a little break but every room so far has been a satisfying challenge. I think I ate like 10 deaths to trying to understand what the bird was trying to tell me. "Do I have a double jump now? When do I do this jump? What do you mean? OH
