Both films were excellent masterpieces by themselves, but in only one of these films featured an obese security guard shooting a gingerbread man cookie with a revolver. In my opinion: winner goes to Ernest (and I haven't even mentioned EVIL Ernest!!!)

Ernest Goes to Africa was the Black Panther of its time except it’s super racist and stars a white hillbilly.

they both sucked. Waiting for the new hard R action movie starring russel crowe as a retired black ops turned high school math teacher who is sucked into a gritty shootout with a disgruntled student (played by paul dano? CGI heath ledger?) In the process he discovers a conspiracy involving the NRA and russia that goes all the way to the top as he goes deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole etc. noice

For a movie called blade runner there is a disturbing shortage of sword smuggling.

Yeah when I was a kid I heard about it and thought it would be Han Solo getting in badass swordfights with robots, but then it was just him eating noodles in the rain or something. What I'm saying is Ernest is better because it never broke my loving heart.

I wanted to watch Ernest Goes to Jail but my mother wouldn't let me when it was a new release, and I forgot about it when I got older. I suppose I will watch it this weekend now. Thanks for reminding me about this film.

Ernest Goes To Jail sucks except for the part where he heats the pen and maybe the magnet scene. Ernest Scared Stupid, however, is a god damned masterpiece.

Ernest scared stupid sometimes gets overhyped on how scary it was, but it was definitely the best. I think as a kid I watched every Ernest movie made and that's the only one I even remember the plot of (well except for the overall summary given away in the titles), let alone rewatch it. e: I have to admit though that slam dunk ernest was kind of underrated and I remember enjoying it

As much as children love movies where the main character is executed by the state for a crime they didn't commit, and instead gets amazing super powers, my vote has to go to Ernest Scared Stupid as the superior sequel to both of them.

I don't consider the Ernest movies sequels persay. More like each is its own film with the same main character or something. I don't think anything that happens in one Ernest movie affects the Ernest Canon
