beginning FotoForensics™ metadata analysis...

inconclusive

commencing Error Level Analysis (ELA).
this tool helps identify areas within an image that are at different compression levels
similar edges should have similar brightness, similar textures should have similar coloring, and flat surfaces should have similar ELA output regardless of their color

seems consistent 🤔

checking for hidden pixels...

this is a tough nail to crack!

fortunately, FotoForensics is not the only tool at our disposal
enter Forensically beta and its powerful Histogram Equalization Magnifier

hm... some of these edges may not be what they appear

interesting...
let's run it through the clone detector

narrowing our scope...

interesting.

Forensically's ELA seems to be a little more granular. let's see what it can suss out

hm... seems like that black rectangle on the right side doesn't quite belong...

maybe Noise Analysis can clear things up further
noise analysis singles out the noise that would be removed in a noise correction algorithm. it can be useful for identifying manipulations to the image like airbrushing, deformations, warping and perspective corrected cloning, which generally lower the noise output

oh ho! it appears we've missed something on the right side of our subject's face

let's just analyze that further with a Level Sweep
Level Sweep magnifies the contrast of certain brightness levels, and can help draw out edges that were introduced when copy and pasting content. if I'm right...

bingo.

we can close the deal with a Luminance Gradient
this technique, inspired by Neal Krawetz, detects changes in brightness along the x and y axis of the image
if I'm right, there should be very noticable anomalies in how the image is illuminated around the face, resulting in a sharp change in the gradient color where there isn't a clear line in the original image
aaaand...

boom, baby.
this image... was photoshopped!

and that's the way the c... that's th... that's how it... goes. :c00l:
