You either fake an excuse to get somebody off the roster (60-day IL, restricted list, etc) or you DFA somebody.

Yeah, but like what if you have hypothetically have 16 guys on the 10 day plagued with a bizarre rash of short term injuries and only 24 available players/slots? Are you just poo poo out of luck and have to move one of those guys to the 60 day or play short handed? Or is there some kind of fine print panic button that exists?

I just checked because I was curious and the Yankees currently have 7 guys on the 10 day and a whopping 9 on the 60 day. So I guess they've just been doing the 60 day thing and I just hadn't noticed.
