I compared the Ravens to the 2003-04 Patriots earlier but I can think of maybe another comparison even, and that's the 2000 Raiders. They moved the ball kind of similarly with a run-by-committee that included their QB Rich Gannon(he had 529 yards!). They switched to a more vertical type of game in 01-02 when they brought in Jerry Rice and Charlie Garner. But in 2000 they were a completely ground-based attack. If you replaced Gannon with Lamar Jackson I think it would have worked out very well.

Not sure how you can't grasp how a team would wait to take a player because they thought he would be there next time around and then eat poo poo for it. We see it all the time the other way too, someone panics and jumps ahead for no reason just because they think someone else actually wants Mitch Trubisky Nodoze fucked around with this message at 14:36 on Dec 3, 2019 |

Was there some rationale for the Raiders getting rid of both Cooper and Mack? To free up salary cap money to acquire worse, less proven players?

Cooper wasn’t playing nearly as well in Oakland for reasons you can suss out on your own and The Raiders quite possibly have real liquid cash issues and can’t afford to pay the bonus for a guy like Mack (this is the rumor). Also the Cooper thing would have been fine if AB didn’t lose his marbles.

After Katrina when the Saints got good I bet they got a gently caress ton of prime time games for a good few years. I have done absolutely no research to confirm this theory.
