they fulfilled a secret condition to get a new skill. that's separate from the solo clear thing. the show wasn't very clear about it, but the conditions are to beat a dungeon boss solo. it only works once per dungeon boss (i.e., no one else can get it from maple's zombie dragon), and once per player. so, there's a finite number of such sets that are available. the show was also unclear about why these sets are so good, aside from maple using her shield to eat people and shoot out hydras.

Nah, she got Hydra from eating the Hydra boss. Hydra just also gives her poison immunity, which overwrote her poison resistance skill. Novel specifics regarding the sets, not really spoilers but just in case people don't want to see them. Maple's set (only three pieces) only has a bunch of Vitality on it and lets her socket a skill she has, giving them a set number of free uses per day but giving up access to that skill unless she's using that piece of equipment. Maple put Devour on her shield (it was a passive ability that turned a percentage of damage taken into MP, which let it get around the uses-per-day limit, but that was added back on as part of the nerf that she got hit with) and Hydra on the sword (she can't use Hydra outside of the free uses on her own, but Devour will let her use more), but I can't remember what she put on the chest piece. It also has an ability that automatically repairs a piece whenever it breaks, but a little bit stronger. Sally's set isn't as focused as Maple's since it gives Agility and MP on the three armor pieces and an equal amount of Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence across the two weapons. Rather than skill sockets she gets her clone skill from it, along with an AoE water skill which the show hasn't really shown and the set is just straight indestructible. Chrome's set is kind of in the middle. It's mostly Vitality but there's some HP and Strength on there too. He gets four pieces, each still only indestructible like Sally's instead of what Maple got but each piece gives a skill instead of only two pieces like Sally's. His set's skills are focused around HP regen, either through kills (10% of his HP) or damage (33% of his damage done or 3% of his health for damage blocked by his shield) with an outlier on one piece that gives him a 50% chance of not dying. I remembered most of it, but I did have to check a couple things so I just figured I'd double check all of it. Edit: Couldn't find what Maple put on her armor though. Edit2: Oh, there's a Bofuri wiki. She put her Chaos skill on it (which lets her summon the Predators and turn into a demon). Most Great Shield users can't put out the damage like the two of them can. Even Chrome can't, though he's probably harder to kill than Payne. Edit: I forgot that there was another member of Maple Tree with a unique set. Crafters are a regular class, like usual in these things, and they also get their own dungeons. They usually still require a party because the dungeons do have hostile mobs, but Iz decided to try to solo one herself. She gets thre pieces, each giving a skill and are indestructible. Each skill is insanely powerful for a Crafter, though. The first let's her have access at any time to a shop that she can trade for materials with. The second lets her craft anywhere, whereas everybody else has to craft at stationary, specific workshops. The final skill gives her unique access to special Seeds that will increase one stat by 10% while reducing another by 10% for 10 minutes. They are random on creation, so while she can't guarantee what she'll get, the item does say what stats it effects before use. A person can stack up to five of these at once. Man, imagine being part of one of the guilds in between rank 7 and 10. They were wiped out for no reason whatsoever. The rules of this event are to collect points by hoarding seeds. "But what if we just kill everyone repeatedly until nobody remains?"

Also it really, really makes me miss the glory days of eve online before it turned into pay-to-win/titans online. The weird multi-speccing that you could do in EvE was sometimes hilariously overpowered.
