Objective: Find and neutralize hostiles

Hobbes brings the Flag expertly to the dock despite the high seas <safe landing - no effects>. For a moment the ship and the floating platform bob in unison. Ivette settles a headset over her ear and barks, "Comm check."

"Saint. Go"
"Dragon. Go"
"Sage. Gee tee gee"
"Honeybee. Go!"

The four mercenaries vault the railing and land easily on the metal grating of the docks. They hustle across a swaying walkway and make it to a sprayswept staircase zigzagging up to the platform above. Nerves are tense but no fire rains upon them from unseen foes. They make the ascent without incident. On the main deck a Geosurge employee makes a panicky greeting.

"Thank goodness you're here. Something hit us maybe a half hour ago. Whole station rang like a bell! Response team... I don't know what happened to em. We keep hearing occasional explosions from inside. My supervisor thinks whoever are headed towards the column head. Um, where the pipelines from below join with the platform. I'll show you."

They lead the team through the corridors, occasionally passing improvised barricades manned by skittish personel. No ambushes are sprung. The employee guiding you swings open a hatchdoor at the end of a long bank of machinery. It opens onto a wide low-ceilinged room with a cluster of huge pipes blooming from the center.

"Oppan, good you brought reinforcments!" A squat woman, presumably the supervisor, practically shouts. Around her, the employees are less jumpy and more focused. Several have handguns but that's the extent of the armament. Clearly any serious gear went with the response team to their unknown fate.

"We can hear whoever they are getting closer. You'll hear. Every couple of minutes. I'd try and head them off but machinery and conduits are dense around here and they're cutting their way through a jungle of the stuff. I don't want to send my people single file to die. Figured we'd make a stand here. If the fucks blow all the pipes we're all toast anywa-" She breaks off as a resonant hum starts up. "There it is again. Whatever they're cutting with. Occasionally it'll hit a line and we'll hear the steam explosion. Doesn't seem to slow em down."

"Mrs. Mtambe! There!" One of the techs is pointing. The upper corner of the bulkhead is glowing red hot near a hatch. Just as rivulets of molten metal start to ooze the hum cuts out. In the sudden silence there are pings and groans of heated metal.

The supervisor speaks up, "That's sample storage?" But the team is already in motion. Honeybee works the hatch release with a grunt of effort then gets clear as Saint kicks it, once, twice. The heatwarped door pops free and the mercenaries pour into the room in a practiced stagger.

The tableau within gives even the professional soldiers a moment's pause. In the center of a pile of cut metal still sullenly glowing with heat at the edges a man-sized shape crouches. It is reminiscent of a crustacean and a piece of industrial equipment at the same time. A coil of broad curving plates culminated in a wide wedge, featureless but for three red orbs aligned vertically in the center. Jointed legs, too many to count at a glance hold it steady. Several are tipped with heavy claws, like a jaws-of-life. The thing is made of a material that is milky and metallic at the same time. Spinning and jittering in the air around it a constellation of crystalline hedrons glow and crackle with energy. The crab/machine withdraws a manipulator from within a crumpled cabinet and tucks a metallic case close to its body. In the moment of shock the thing begins to retreat back into the rent, not turning its three eyed "face" from you. From deeper within the cut passage, smaller shapes stir. Segmented bodies like a silverfish the size of a dog. At the thickest ventral point sprouts spray of rounded clear vessels like handful of test tubes pushed into the thing. One of the things rears up and a strange energy ripples from its pointed head.

A note on voting and rolling.

Feel free to change votes. I would prefer them to be edited into the initial vote post. Also if its really close to processing things might get hosed up or miscounted. We'll handle it.

If consensus is reached feel free for one(1) person in the bloc to roll and post it. In case of ties, I'll roll. In cases where two soldier go in a row, both vote at once. The results of the first soldiers action will not be posted before the vote of the second soldier, though with more information, likely results can be guessed and planned around.

Combat votes are relatively fast paced and end after 24 hours. Hopefully at least one member of a class bloc will vote in that time.

Dragon hustles into cover behind one of the smashed metal cabinets and crouches down. She sees that its full of other metal canisters. The labels consist of a date and a measurement in meters. Probably depth. Then something else draws her attention. The multilegged crab thing, without slowing its steady backwards scuttling, lifts three jointed limbs into the air. These form a grasping gesture at the nearest crystal hedron and the small jittering shape stills and is drawn towards the plated entity. The shard sinks through the strange pale material of the thing's shell with no apparent resistance. The three red eyes begin to glow and the same resonant hum that had been heard earlier starts up again, growing in intensity each moment.

Dragon lets out a curse in Russian and then ducks as another of the crystals apparently responds with a bright beam of energy.

Honeybee slides into cover behind the intact cabinet. One of the segmented creatures rises from behind the tumbled debris. A burst of energy emanates from its snout, like a flower of quicksilver distortion. A similar burst of energy rakes the cabinet she has just been sheltering behind. It collapses in a clattering slump. Whole swathes of material are missing as if erased. The canisters are similarly shredded. geological samples spill out. A tinkling noise rings out as smooth edged pieces of metal rain down around the segmented thing. Pieces of stone clatter within the clear tubes on its back.

Dragon's breathing slows. She is the rifle, held in perfect alignment. Then her eyes widen slightly. The shot goes off, wide, as Dragon leaps to one side. A coruscating beam sweeps into the cabinets. The thin metal melts like sliced nucheese under a blowtorch. It blows through and the beam sinks into the thick bulkhead. It too begins to slump before the lance of energy finally gutters out. To one side Dragon breathes out. And then catches another sight that chills the blood. Two of thing's red orb eyes remain lit with sullen energy. It is nearly out of sight up the tunnel.

Reasoning: I think we can't finish A1, we'll need Dragon for that and Dragon is probably going to be busy taking the cover B1 was using. B1 should be about to die or break cover absent another critical fail (Sage can be expected to Analyze doubling Pipe Bomb's damage). The C's are annoying and I really want to swat them like flies. But with B2 and B3 are focus firing Sage for too much damage and they're on track to down one of us if left unconstrained. The risk here is that we can only get one shot out before reloading, but I'm hoping the B's are squishy since they have such high damage output.

Sage calms himself and really watches these foes. He notes the different color of the carapace between the big one and the tube things. A similar material but the hide of the smaller ones seemed nowhere near as resilient. Quicker, though. Leon thinks back to the creatures's behavior. They would wheel on any aggressive action. Yes, he understands the tube things. Sage turns away just as his explosive detonates, pulping one them. "That's one cylindroid down."

Attack Unknown A1 with WP-ammo'd Rifle, using Lethal Aim.

And if it drops, call it a Triclops.

Cut loose before the god eaters show up.
Dragon draws a bead on the retreating hostile. No cover between her and those lethal glowing orbs. Fine. No time for a perfect shot, Dragon risks it. The round hits low on the third orb. The white hot bullet ignites something within the thing. The explosive release of energy is channeled by the thing's heavy armor, smoke and ruin bursting from the joints and sockets of the entity. It reminds Dragon of a shrimp popping over an open flame.
