I had a shower epiphany this morning:

What if there were a gofundme-type thing where people could donate a few bucks to Amazon workers to feed their families while they were on strike?

The biggest obstacle (or a very big obstacle) to Amazon workers unionizing and striking for better working conditions is that if they even seem to be moving in that direction they're fired immediately and replaced. They don't have enough money to stay afloat during a strike.

So what if they did? What if there were like a "for just $5 you can sponsor an Amazon worker" donation thing that would pay the workers of Amazon to strike against their evil paymasters?

Trying to assess feasibility, but I know gently caress all about community organizing and web design.

Do you find something comical about my appearance when I'm driving my automobile?
Good luck trying to organize this. How are you going to give the money to people? How do you ensure that if you got the money they would strike? And considering the size of Amazon, good luck getting enough money to make a difference. And are you going to be able to distribute that money effectively. At that scale, it's going to cost money to do this. You also need to have lawyers to go over things. You probably want to have a review of how likely you are to be sued. And when you get sued, you'll need to pay for representation.

And how do you make sure it goes to actual Amazon employees and not just people claiming to be. And what if they don't strike?

This is a huge project that will be akin to taking a huge risk and a huge full time job.

And hope you know a good lawyer.

And if you know nothing about community organizing or web design, how are you going to get this started. This is the equivalent of a guy who has a killer idea for a hugely complex MMO and just wants to find a few programmers to make it reality. It's never happened, and never will.

Amazon workers should educate themselves and find better jobs.

strike funds are definitely a thing, and are maintained by unions. you need to find a union that's trying to organize an amazon warehouse (or a warehouse that's reaching out to a union to be organized), and then you can work with setting up a lots-of-small-donations type thing. most likely, whatever union runs the strike fund will already have a mechanism set up for that

abolish christmas. if you can get people to space their buying of poo poo out throughout the year instead of concentrating most of it in a month or two, there'd be less justification for seasonal temp work. there'd be more people in an occupation who have been there long enough to understand it and make friends within it and start getting organizational clout

Buy a whole bunch of stuff off Amazon. Then return it only first take out the items and throw a pile of cash in the box instead and write on the box "4 xmas plz take"

Just lol if you don't think there's cameras all over the joint but especially in returns processing

I like that the OP, despite not being an Amazon worker or a union organizer or really anything of relevance just KNOWS that this is actually the most important thing preventing Amazon workers from forming a union, yeah ok buddy.
