I'm just a sick guy, I'm really just a dirty guy.
the votes are in, and mostly tallied! thank you to everyone who voted in the 2020 PSP awards (38 lovely people voted this year). I'll be posting some of the results every day so this post doesn't become a million words long. if I got anything wrong please feel free to call me a big dip poo poo. for Category B awards, the last number is the total of votes received. for Category A awards, first place votes will be in parentheses, with total points beside it. ties are broken in Category A awards by first place votes. since this year was awful let's start with the worst of the worst so we can only improve from there.

WORST MATCH OF THE YEAR

1. MATT HARDY VS. SAMMY GUEVARA, 9/5, AEW ALL OUT 9
2. Toru Yano vs. Jado, 6/16, New Japan Cup 5
3. Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso (Hell in a Cell "I Quit" Match), 10/25, WWE Hell in a Cell 4
T4. Edge vs. Randy Orton, 4/5, WWE Wrestlemania 3
T4. Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins (Eye for an Eye Match), 7/19, WWE Extreme Rules: Horror Show 3
T6. Braun Strowman vs. The Fiend, 8/23, WWE Summerslam 2
T6. Braun Strowman vs. The Fiend, 7/19, WWE Extreme Rules: Horror Show 2

Receiving one vote: The Money in the Bank Matches, WWE Money in the Bank, 5/10, Will Ospreay vs Tomohiro Ishii, NJPW G1 Climax Night 3, 9/23, Tetsuya Naito vs EVIL, NJPW Dominion, 7/12, Kazuchika Okada vs Yujiro Takahashi, Gedo, & Jado, NJPW Summer Struggle, 8/26, Goldberg vs. The Fiend - WWE Super Showdown, 2/27

when a man's head slams into concrete and he clearly is out of it, and that man is allowed to continue and climb up a support structure while being dead behind the eyes? you've got a worst match of the year ready to go. Toru Yano vs. Jado gave them a good run but are unable to pull it off. Braun Strowman and The Fiend pull off an impressive twofer with back-to-back matches both receiving multiple votes for WMOTY.

WORST FEUD OF THE YEAR
1. SETH ROLLINS VS. REY MYSTERIO 7
2. The Fiend vs. Randy Orton 4
T3. The Fiend vs. Braun Strowman 3
T3. Kazuchika Okada vs. Yujiro Takahashi 3
T3. WWE vs. the outside world 3
T6. Tetsuya Naito vs. EVIL 2
T6. Sammy Guevara vs. Matt Hardy 2

Receiving one vote: Jake Hager vs. Jon Moxley, Tam Nakano vs Giulia, Lana vs. Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler, New Japan Pro Wrestling vs. COVID-19, Kota Ibushi vs. Jay White, Randy Orton vs. Edge, Randy Orton v. Rey Mysterio, Street Profits vs Viking Raiders, Taijiri vs Yusuke Okada (All Japan), Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso

the feud where two guys try their damndest to pop out some eyeballs, concluding in an Eye for an Eye match was voted as Worst Feud of the Year. The Fiend once again pulls off an impressive back-to-back in a worst category. this will be a recurring theme.

WORST GIMMICK
1. "THE FIEND" BRAY WYATT 12
2. Retribution 7
3. Alexa Bliss 3
4. Master Wato 2

Receiving one vote: Nightmare Collective, Will Ospreay, Danshoku Dino, Carmella as Woman Who Is Attractive, Ryan Satin - journalist, Sami Callihan, Face Britt Baker, rome hat, Dexter Lumis, Roman Reigns, Sting

one shining moment, you reached for the sky... one shining moment you were willing to try... The Fiend... this is your one shining moment!!

WORST TELEVISION ANNOUNCER
1. COREY GRAVES 9
2. Michael Cole 8
3. Jim Ross 4
4. Josh Matthews 3

Receiving one vote: Chris Jericho, Sonny Oono, Byron Saxton, Ho Ho Lun, Jim Cornette, Kevin Kelly, Whoever does Impact, Vampiro, Don Callis

WWE takes the top two spots for worst announcer. ex-WWE friend of the show Jim Ross receives four votes to place third in a strong year for bad announcing.

WORST TELEVISION SHOW
1. WWE RAW 24
2. WWE SmackDown 3

Receiving one vote: WWE NXT, NWA Powerr, Impact

WWE once again takes the top two slots in a worst category. Raw wins in a landslide with SmackDown being the only other show to receive multiple votes.

WORST PROMOTION
1. WWE 33

Receiving one vote: Stardom, Impact Wrestling, All Japan Pro Wrestling

lol

WORST ON SOCIAL MEDIA
1. T-BAR 8
2. Retribution 5
3. Drake Wuertz 3
T4. Seth Rollins 2
T4. Ricochet 2
T4. TJP 2

Receiving one vote: Shanna, Jim Ross, Austin Aries, The Fiend, @WWEonFOX, Sean Morley, Chris Jericho, Will Ospreay

T-BAR and the rest of Retribution cleaned up in Worst on Social Media. Drake Wuertz joining the Proud Boys on Parler came in a respectable third place.

TOMORROW: some bests??

I think I was too, and after I did I suddenly realized I had no idea which was the guy whose tweets kept showing up in the Social Media thread, T-Bar or Slapjack, guess I got it right. I'm pretty sure I also voted for "Carmella as Woman Who is Attractive" for Worst Gimmick, and I stand by that choice.

Kane didn't even become Kane until he was 30 and it was a few years after that when he really found his groove for bad feuds and matches. Bray is an all timer.

Do we not give him any props for Issac Yankum and whatnot? That summer feuding with Bret as Lawler's dentist is an underrated start to a HoF career here.

Bray was Husky Harris in the New Nexus as well. We're talking prime garbage time years here. Both guys had little lovely runs before hand but Bray has a big head start on this run.

How many times has he tried and failed to get that gimmick off the ground because IT’S NOT AN INTERESTING PRO WRESTLING GIMMICK?

Shouldn't we give The Fiend credit for the Alexa Bliss stuff too? Like, the gimmick is so bad he's also simultaneously ruining several of the women's wrestlers and the main event of RAW...and he's not EVEN THERE!!!

God drat, The Fiend is unstoppable as the worst gimmick of all time.

2019 was probably the lamest year for the gimmick 2020 was so much better as he started showing off with the match vs Pac and then showing so much versatility with the first Jericho match, some of those six man tags, the Brodie Lee match and the Cody matches.

Also tremendous on BTE.

Best Gimmick was obviously Team Taz and the FTW lifestyle but it's OK for 2nd to win.

Anna Jay got squashed in only her seventh match ever and then immediately picked up by the Dark Order. she spent much of 2020 honing her craft, and hanging around and being a welcome presence in Being the Elite. by the end of the year she was having singles matches on Dynamite and serving as the voice of terror in the Dark Order.

There's not many and one of them was fellow 2020 Dragon Gate rookie HipHop Kikuta (shout out to him, a guy who debuted in June and thus has never actually wrestled in front of a full sell out crowd that can make noise and shout and cheer)

the Buckshot Lariat wins best wrestling maneuver. in a year that Adam Page broke out, his finishing move takes the top spot for move of the year. Mizuki's Whirling Candy received the same amount of first place votes as the Buckshot Lariat, but receiving no second- or third-place votes meant that the Buckshot Lariat took the win.
