I found an expansion for Romance of the Nine Kingdoms, the fake CCG made up for the The Gamers 3: Hand of Fate movie.

We should try to organize some play using online clients or something.

I know Doomtown has apparently been revived by fans. VTES has been revived again by Black Chantry.

I had/have so many VTES decks, not sure which were my favourites. I had an Akunanse toolbox deck, a Nagaraja deflect deck, a Casino Reeds/Cock Robin animalism deck, a Tzimisce Wall Deck, an Assamite Contract deck, a Giovanni Khazar's Diary deck, a Samedi Anarch toolbox deck, a weird True Brujah sacrifice deck, and more.

I'd brought all my vtes cards to college and let friends make their own decks with them. It was fun.

The WildStorm CCG was a scarily large part of my life for a couple of years, lol. Man did the guys and I play the hell out of that game. Scene almost entirely based around fans of the comics, but man did we have a lot of fans of those comics. Game, in retrospect, was not good, and I think the scene had a bunch of commonly accepted house rules. Was actually by Matt Forbeck, who has made plenty of good games, and was probably paid poo poo all to develop the game in like a weekend.

It got completely remade in terms of mechanics at least once (WS cared as much about the "sanctity" of their games as they did their comics, as anyone who witnessed what they let Warren Ellis gleefully do with their characters can probably attest), so I'm only really talking about the original run. Which felt like it lasted for ages, but was actually like two years. Teenage memories speaking...

The Brave New World guy?

I got myself a copy of Romance of the Nine Empires, the fake card game made as a tie-in to the movie The Gamers 3: Hands of Fate. The movie plot is itself a big reference to drama surrounding L5R tournaments, and the mechanics are recycled from Legend of the Burning Sands.

Oh, do tell. I was a big L5R fan back in the day.

Burning Sands was interesting, too. The dueling rules were fun, I think?

I never played Burning Sands, so I can't really go into details. The cards for Ro9E look neat though.

No that was Rich Wulf.

He wrote the black chicken story in response to a request I made on the L5R fiction yahoo group when I was 15, lol.

Thank you for that post.

I always found it weird how the 7th Sea card game was all about the pirates when the rpg was much more about swashbucklign Musketeer style.

My Nagaraja deck with Auspex, Necromancy and Dominate was just bouncetown.

Not quite on-topic but I tried to make my own card game in college, based around my own setting with robots inspired by like Megaman and Ghost in the Shell and poo poo. I lost it all in a computer switch.

It'd be interesting to see who played TCGs and didn't try their hand at making one. Hell, as I'm typing this, my daughter is working on her own card game. It's like Magic, but with cats, dogs, and capybaras. She even came up with the idea to rename Magic mechanics on her own, ha.
