Aw hunny, these came out GREAT!
This was a very hard year for ranking QBs. I think only like 10 teams only used one QB this year, which seems crazy.

I needed to establish something for these final rankings and I think I have come up with a solution. It probably isn't perfect but it's what I am doing. If you do not like this solution, please understand that I am trying me very best and please do not yell at me. Here is the solution:

-If your team made the playoffs, I will be ranking your currently starting QB if he has started 3+ games going into the playoffs
-If the starter going into the playoffs did not start 3+ games, I will use whatever QB is in line to start the playoff game
-If your team did not make the playoffs, I will be ranking whichever QB started the most games this season

As always, this list is fluid, and I will make a new list in August. This is how I have seen the QBs play out for the 2022 NFL season. I love you all.

1. Patrick Mahomes
2. Joe Burrow
3. Jalen Hurts
4. Geno Smith
5. Josh Allen
6. Justin Herbert

On initial read this list looks like the work of a lunatic but I can’t actually find much to argue with so I think this has just been the weirdest season for QBs in as long as I can remember.

You can dismiss this as a homer opinion but Cousins should at the very least above Rodgers. He's had moments of not being great mid game but in the fourth quarters he's been really solid.

Cousins has thrown more int's this year but he's been asked to be more aggressive and that's contributed to the Vikings winning more than expected.

Joe Burrow had a scrambling no look pass to Tyler Boyd last week that is without a doubt the single most impressive throw I've seen a Bengals quarterback make ever. Right on the money while moving to evade one sack and about a half step away from getting lit up by Roquan Smith.

He actually overall had a down game last week. Had kind of a moment of clarity where I realized exactly how high the bar is for Joe, If he looks noticeably off doing what he did last week.

Herbert at 6 is too high, they haven't beaten a team with a winning record this year, he stacked stats up by ekeler dumpoffs and looked like hot garbage vs any teams with defense

in the nfl there were just about a dozen franchise qbs who stuck in there, played most or all of the season, and who were left in pretty good position to take their teams to the postseason from that alone since as we know, there were a ton of backups playing this year. any of the guys in this situation were lucky to be there, and for the most part they answered the call to take advantage of the situation. these qbs all shouldered the load and threw the ball more than 500 times, becoming chiefly responsible for their team's success or failure. here are their completion percentages; how well they kept drives alive, and took the ball down the field. kept their defensive bros off the field and allowed them some rest. the men are listed in order of how many throws they had to take.

this is the cream of the crop. and it resulted in 8 playoff bids, two very near-misses, and something else. very good qbs.

I think there's a group of dudes of roughly equivalent age and talent level where you're splitting hairs. If polygraphs actually worked it would be interesting to strap in the coach or GM or whatever for the Bengals/Bills/Chiefs/Chargers and ask who they'd swap for who.

Mahomes has like an extra 2 games worth of passing yards and tuddies compared to whoevers in 2nd while throwing to Kelce and a bunch of dudes half of whom just got to the team, imagine him with Tyler Boyd as his #3

And Joe could take literally any one of Kansas City's starting offensive lineman and it would be an upgrade over his best pass blocker. Postseason contenders have different assets, none of them are talent poor. I remember the superbowl Tampa Bay won, seems like Patrick would probably rather have his current offensive line than the Bengals receiving corps.

People reacted just as hyperbolically last year this time when I said Justin Herbert and Burrow were equivalent for their franchises. There are four capital D Dudes in the NFL and they're all in the AFC and that annoys me.

No Butt Stuff
Jun 10, 2004

Mahomes went to the Super Bowl with one of the worst offensive lines I’ve ever seen and still had a fighting chance if his entire receiving corps hadn’t forgot how to catch.
