My QB is also named Bort

He's a solid backup swing tackle and hopefully he's back healthy and does well. Seems like a good guy.
I don't know much about him but I know he was a good backup for a while. An injured guy is a perfect Baalke signing, after all.

He’s a bit of a weird one, he’s nominally a safety but the best way to describe him is as a cornerback who covers tight ends. If you look at his alignment charts it’s gonna be all over the place, but the bulk of it is following the TE around in primary coverage. He’s pretty good against most of the league but will notably get wrecked by the upper tier guys.

I think Carolina is going to be running one of these Fangio-themed defenses and the fit is a little bit funnier there, he physically looks the part but I’m not sure he has the physicality to fill downhill out of two high positioning for that.

I think Jeremy Chinn is transitioning to a more free running safety/nickel/linebacker role and it makes sense to have another player they can slot into some of that role if you wanted to scheme up some different looks. It seems like a few teams at the moment are trying to find 3 safeties that are essentially starters but a couple of them don't fit that traditional deep safety role.

As more teams are using more split ends and move tight ends etc and running backs out of the backfield it makes sense to have a bigger body who can cover in short areas.

A player can get money out of the Ravens if they use a good agent. There's a lesson here.

A one-year overpay for a guy who might be productive is way better than Baltimore's approach to WRs for the past several years imo

18 mil for OBJ would be questionable over 3 years. This has to put the Ravens close to the cap including Lamar's franchise tag.

According to overthecap it puts them over unless there are void years

Yeah, you can't say "it's a one year deal, who cares" when the excuse the Ravens kept giving for not signing anyone was "we can't afford it." You literally could've gotten Jakobi Meyers for a few million less. This contract is so expensive considering no other WR on the market got anything close to this!

how can we not talk about family
when family's all that we got?
the problems I have with that contract are 1) it hurts the Ravens' ability to match a front loaded offer for Jackson which means 2) they may not have Jackson. and also 3) they may not have Jackson either way so who is he running routes for
