The reason it's fun to dump on the Jets is because—in spite of how tortured the fanbase actually is—it's punching up. It's a huge fanbase in the country's biggest city and there's an implicit understanding that it's better to live in New York than, like, Cleveland. They almost always get the prime time games and in the fleeting moments where the team is good, they still get all the attention. lovely New York teams are never the lovable losers.
