The more sports talk radio says the Pats need to pick a QB at #3 no matter what, the more convinced I get they need to trade out and get more picks.

Those results don't really matter. They need to draft a QB at some point.

The best argument against drafting a QB this year is that it will still be at least two more years of roster building before they are competitive again - and that's assuming they've hired a competent coach. In the meantime they are wasting cheap rookie QB years. Then of course there's the more subjective argument that they'll stymie the development of whatever QB they draft with a putrid surrounding cast.

Better to fill out the roster, find out if Mayo is a turd or not and then swing for the fences on a QB.

Also, if they feel there is a fatal flaw that they can't coach away from a QB.

Absolutely: if they don't think Maye or McCarthy () is a franchise guy, you trade out with someone who thinks differently and squeeze them for every drop, in part because you're probably going to need that capital to get your guy in the future.

It's not even a regime-ending move if you're wrong so long as you land a franchise QB soon after!

This is where I am at. Draft Maye if you think he's going to be average to good but if some teams gives you a first next year, a first the year after, and like a 2nd and a 4th, take the haul and rebuild the team that way.

edit: of course it all falls apart if Maye or Daniels is the next Mahomes or Allen or something. You are going to have to take the risk at some point.

Eh, Brissett is probably more serviceable than the garbage we have at WR.

Bourne is fine. Pop Douglas looks like he is good.

pats would have to be getting an insane haul to trade back with MIN, considering their own needs and the talent dropoff at those positions by 11

Jeffords, 11+23, 2025 First Rounder, and 2026 First Rounder?

That is the floor if I am the Pats anyways.

also nobody knows who has a good or bad draft for at least 6 months after the draft

At least it feels like the Pats have a plan, unlike the last few years.
