Bad EXP received

Baccarat's church is fairly close to the casino, though it's still not right next to the goddamn thing.

As promised, the casino is back in business.

Fun Casino

The tokens from the Pickham casino are valid here, so I already have a hefty sum.

It's the base for for getting things here, as Baccarat's stuff is waaaay more expensive.

Slot machines are here, as great of a time as before, which is to say not a great time.

Bingo's back, with three times the cap on bets and thus payouts. It works exactly the same otherwise.

But we have one new game to play.

We place a bet on a number, then we... hold on, that's not quite accurate.

We can place bets on a number, a pair of numbers, squares of numbers, color, rows , columns, even or odd, there's a lot of options. The payout multipier for a spot is 28 divided by the amount of numbers it contains. So while you can cover a lot of space, the payouts are much less to account for the increased winnings.

Then we watch as the wheel is spinned and the ball falls in the wrong loving spot and we get mad at this loving video game.

As far as I know the wheel is fair and has an equal 1/28th chance to fall in a given number.

The extra bet spots means I can cover 54 different options in a disgusting rectangle of gambling lust.

Some jerk did the math over a decade ago and found this beats the house on average. We have a greater than 50% chance to get a positive payout. Not as braindead as letting bingo go and pressing X twice every minute and a half, but much much faster in terms of how quickly you go up.

It takes a while to put this whole thing together, but...

gently caress! My dreams! They're exploding!!!

Oh well, that's what save scumming is for.

"Wow, just listen to me! I'm starting to sound like everyone's mother! I guess my role during this journey is making sure you boys don't get sidetracked."

It's okay Jessica, I think we're set.

The reason I haven't bothered to get Jessica a weapon since the staff of antimagic is, well, it was pointless until now. The Gringham Whip is far and away the strongest whip in the game at an astounding 127 attack, and it hits all enemies like a boomerang instead of the normal group-only. 184 attack is over 30 points higher than Eight with his Swallowtail.

It reduces "curse damage" by 2/3. What's curse damage? Dunno. It does have 101 defense, squishing everything but the dark robe and gigant armor beneath it.

Don't let the low attack fool you, as the Falcon Blade causes every sword attack to behave like Falcon Slash.

Even Falcon Slash.

Prayer Rings are much easier to get in bulk here.

Apparently they cremate holy men frequently here. Oh well, infinite supply of Saint's Ashes.

"You're really weird, you know that?"

Best way of cashing out is selling Prayer Rings in bulk.

The Spangled Dress is nothing special on its own but it will be part of a very long, very confusing alchemy experience.

Baccarat tokens work in Pickham too, so I can get all of this stuff in really huge numbers.

Four hits at 1/2 each is still twice normal for zero MP. Falcon Slash with the Falcon Blade is really good against most foes, though high-defense enemies will really ruin its output.

Let's get back to the area north of Arcadia, which has no less cumbersome name. Now we can really sink our teeth into it with our party back normal and everyone kitted with cool new poo poo.

Not this guy, though. If you're past Arcadia you have much better monsters available.

I mean we did get sidetracked for several days then gamble for several more, but it's no big deal, right?

Right?

"Negativity is his bread and butter. I think he uses it as a conduit to possess anyone who touches the sceptre. I'm sure Dhoulmagus had some dark feelings deep inside. It wouldn't surprise me if that's how Rhapthorne first took hold of him."

"Oh, what ghastly shame to bring upon the King!"
"You can say that again, Grandad! You didn't even know wot yer own castle's treasure was! And now cos o' that, we're all up the creek in a right old mess."
"True. If we'd known that about the sceptre, we could've dealt with it when we defeated Dhoulmagus. I suppose you could say it was King Trode's carelessness that led to Jessica being possessed by the Lord of Darkness."
"Have you no compassion at all for a man in the depths of despair!? You're a cold-hearted lot! Fine! But don't ever expect any sympathy from me!"

Swingin' hipsters are like any other sexy dude demon in that you pray they don't spin.

Orc Kings have stepped up from their subjects' herbs and can cast Zing.

It's still Zing with as much chance of failure as ever.

Jessica got Hip Drop way back after Dhoulmagus, but it wasn't until the Gringham Whip it was worth using. x1.3 for 0 mp is alright, but it's fairly evident I'm lacking any real whip skills.

Oh well, it's a free multiplier against single targets and she defeats enemies rear end-first.

It's worth thinking of treasures you already have as free money. This is 725 gold! This also means you can have a silver tiara without having to buy or make one. It's used to make an even stronger tiara, after all.

Still climbing up Sex Appeal. What does being a sexy lady mean?

Roofies, apparently. :stare:

Kasnooze hits all enemies rather than just a group. It may work more often and the sleep may last longer, hard to tell with random things like that.

Since Elfin Elixirs take Yggdrasil Dew to make, free ones are good to get.

There's this really weak slime around here. I think he may have a trick, but gently caress me if I am going to try finding it.

At least you don't have to buy two sperate knives to make this knife to put it in with a devil's tail to get an MP-draining knife?

1250 gold when sold.

At the north end of the area north of Arcadia (so I never have to call it that again) is a tunnel.

Sir Leopold's been through here, it seems.

I have to wonder how you make a fountain only to have it freeze mid-spout.

"But if we don't retrieve the sceptre, M-Medea and I may never return to n-normal. ...Brrr. we'll just have to g-grin and b-b-bear it. ...Let's keep p-pushing on, Eight. At least moving might help us to w-warm up a little."

You should have, instead of... oh, right.

Magic Bikini.

On the other side is vast white, with nothing but snow, howling wind,

And robots designed exclusively to kill humans.

"I beg your pardon! How uncalled for! I don't see why I shouldn't be able to say whatever I p-please! You've no right to talk to me like that! No right at all! I'm absolutely livid! Livid I tell you! I'm going on ahead!

But while Trode goes on, the party notice a rumbling sound.

Avalanche! Eight and crew are instantly knocked out cold!

All is dark and quiet...

Morning Sunlight

You were so excited about the Millennial Fair that you didn't sleep well, did you...? I want you to behave yourself today! Let's get moving now!

Wait, where the hell is my Falcon Blade?!
