Directed by: Takeshi Kitano Starring: Duncan - Tokie Hidari - Shoji Kobayashi - Shinsuke Yamane To the Western world Takeshi Kitano is best known for his blunt violence displayed in "Violent Cop", "Sonatine" and "Boiling Point" (among others) but in Japan this is considered his second job as he is a very widely respected comedian appearing on TV several nights a week. This film is an awesome example of his style of humour that does make fleeting appearances in even his most violent movies. "Getting Any?" is 105 minutes of fantastic non-sequitur comedy centred around a pathetic guy named Asao (played by Duncan) trying to "score" with the opposite sex. To be honest it feels more like a series of sketches linked by this plotline, with Asao attempting to get laid using cars, planes, acting, the Yakuza and becoming invisible. All of which fail miserably and hilariously while poking fun at every aspect of Japanese life. Thoroughly recommended for fans of Kitano's work as it shows a side to him not often seen by the Western world. It has just received a Region 2 release through ArtsMagic (https://www.artsmagic.co.uk) that contains a trailer, artwork, stills, cast bios and a short interview conducted during the "Zatoichi" promotions (coincidentally the original Zatoichi movies are parodied in this movie!)
