If you pitch a WP or W8 app directly to MS they will pay you to make it. This is in addition to Nokia's programs to pay people to make apps.

How does one go about doing this?

All I've seen is this program:

If you're a big name app who isn't already on the platform I assume anything goes.

Well I've been at a couple talks/training events where MS said these things straight out (we will directly and fully fund development of WP and Windows 8 apps) and they had a method and program name but I didn't grab the information. It was also around the launch of the Surface one so quite awhile ago now. Probably easiest to just ask some of the windows phone evangelists like this one:

https://twitter.com/gregstoll

Also appcaumpus:

If they don't know (and the might not), then next best is probably to start asking on the bizspark side/partner contacts. The reason no one's heard of this is because it's not something that would make MS look good. When they shared the information with the crowd they didn't ask us to specifically keep it quiet but the did mention there were not public information on it and that the contacts they gave us (business cards) were the main way to get into the program.

Unfortunately no on in the meetings/training had any interest.

I'm guessing this is also why the Flikr app said Flikr for Windows Phone 7 a year after the Windows Phone 8 launched. I'm guessing MS paid Flikr to make it, then didn't pay them to update it.

That combined with all of the offers of free devices (I got 2 Lumia 800's for very little work) and $100 per app is part of the why there are many apps in the store but few of quality.

Anyone who thinks the WP App store got the where it is because developers care is wrong. If MS hadn't bought the apps they have there would be nearly nothing except first party apps. They have one of the nicest developer tool chains, and a friendly and responsive app store staff but there is no revenue on WP, Windows 8 is a different story however.

Hulk will smoke you!
On Android I used Series Guide to track tv shows and notify me of upcoming episodes/seasons. Tried several Windows apps and they aren't very good. I bought Series Fan because the trial seemed perfect but the full app is kinda crappy. I want an app that will sync with Trakt, allow me to tick off shows as I watch them, notify me of upcoming shows, will hide shows that are caught up, preferably with a good usable interface that allows many sorting options. Anyone use an app like that?

This thread is dead, you should try posting in the normal windows phone thread and someone might be able to help you.
