Anyone play the Ultra Damage Mode? Everything about the combat that I've seen (admittedly all early-game) makes it look as though it lacks any punch to it which has really made me put off buying it. I'm wondering whether the 3X damage makes fights more fun and deadly or if it's just annoying.

I haven't tried it yet, but unless it scales differently by different weapons, I expect grenade + ammo box combo would just be even more unbeatable than it already is.

Hilariously, if you have the sound-dampening grenade, you can chuck one half a second before you throw a regular grenade and hit enemies with STEALTH explosions.

Any tips for hitting Evgeny's stronghold in the Industrial district? I'm not well equipped enough to pull off a frontal assault and my stealthy attempts are failing because I can't find the security terminals to take over those shielded turrets.

I don't know if you've already tried this, but remember that you don't have to finish one district to go on to the others. You can pick the easy prototypes and ATM's from the commercial district and the grid, and then come back to wreck Evgeny in the Industrial district.

Hijack as many heavy enforcers as you can find and let them minigun everything to death.

Also, as Skyscraper says, go to other districts. The Plasma Minigun is fairly easy to get in The Grid and will murder the Uzy troops with ease.

Also turrets can usually just be turned off at a generator rather than hacking or sometimes have one attached to them. Sneaking in a soldier with your infiltrator and hacker murdering/hijacking everyone ahead of him so he can run in isn't actually much harder, worst case scenario stick a cloaker on him.

Finally got hit by the incredible "agents get stuck in the terrain" bug. First time that it's hit me, though, so that's not too bad. If only it hadn't been at the tail end of an infiltration mission.

Yeah I stealthed this one up to the tank by using the side door and zip-line and then got spotted so ended up fighting the tank with plasma rifles and miniguns.

Going and doing other stuff doesn't just net you more tech, skill points make a big difference as well. Get yourself an extra equipment slot so everyone can be rocking armour plus shields plus zip-line hook plus whatever else you fancy. Also that support skill which improves everyone's max energy and regen is amazing.

Impractical practicality
I tried to equip my whole squad with silencers and that didn't help at all just alerted the guards like normal. Is there any point or use for silencers besides using them for close up stealth kills?

I equip my squad with silenced laser SMG secondaries and use them to burn through doors when nobody's around.
Otherwise, yeah, close up stealth kills are awfully good in this game.

Silencers make YOUR guns emit no sound, enemies who don't die instantly and fire their weapons will still cause alerts. If you can get your hands on the sound dampening grenade, putting the enemies in a null-sound bubble while equipping your whole team with silenced weapons will prevent alerts. Whether this is worth taking -20% damage on the whole team instead of just giving the infiltrator a silenced sidearm is up to you.

Once you can get the laser sniper rifle, silence it, and equip it on someone with a rank or two of weapon specialist you can silently one-shot those little dog robots from any distance without causing any sound, and that's pretty useful.

Nah, he means destroying compounds' reinforced doors so there is no need to haywire or hack them open.

Yeah, you got it. The door sets off alerts when it actually dies, but it's really handy when you need to escape quickly, or move in a really squishy objective unit, like a non-agent hacker. Or when you've already disabled the power to that door.
That's another thing you can burn through with the silent laser SMG's: power supplies! And stationary jammers.

I just found out that you can use hijacked enemies to open any locked door they'd normally have clearance for, and as long as they don't do anything hostile no one bats an eye.

Finished the game yesterday and was pretty fun. Going to sit on it a while and then play again, perhaps more stealthy this time.

On the other hand, walking in with guns blazing was really satisfying. The flamethrower was not as insane as it was in Syndicate, but the Rocket Launcher is aces.

Have to say, once you unlock a decent selection of upgrades combat does begin to feel a lot like Syndicate Wars, with enemies dropping left and right plus liberal use of explosives. Midgame must be insane with ultra-damage mode.

Gave my soldier the rocket launcher, forgot I did it, kept getting confused as to why everyone blew up when he shot at an enemy adjacent to him. I thoughts maybe the enemies were all self destructing like in Syndicate.

Giving any of your guys the flamethrower really does not work well if you plan on moving all as a group like the original syndicate. I kind of wish they either changed it so flamethrowers move to the front, or don't set teammates on fire just like miniguns through a player don't hit them.

The entire last mission is a huge letdown compared to the rest of the game.

I did my first playthrough of the game with stealth tactics and most of the districts were huge fun because it was really challenging but the last mission is absurdly easy to beat with stealth. Give everyone a mark 2 cloak, run along the bottom path and up the left side, EMP the cameras/turrets, send in a cloaked infiltrator via the vent to shoot the guy in the back, rinse and repeat twice more and you're done.

Hopefully they'll patch it - if the guy has a bigger patrol area than just that back bit then it'll be a lot harder to cheese the mission.

Carly shook her glass, willing the ice to melt. "You still haven't told me what the mission is."

She leaned forward. "We are going to assassinate the bad men of Hollywood."

Have some of the early hiccups at released been patched out? I really love the aesthetics of this game but I'm getting too old and impatient for dumb AI wonkiness. Is this something I can chip away at quest by quest, or will I lose steam if I can't charge through the whole campaign?

Yeah, I wonder if it made more sense if you read the novella that came with it?

I can sorta see where they were trying to do with it, but it's nowhere near as good as controlling the world from your shadowy airship like in Syndicate.

I'm in the Central Business District and the mission description for the Dracogenics Tower don't tell me WHAT to do! It just says get ready for a huge assault. The door in the compound gives an error when I click on it. What am I supposed to do? I feel pretty geared up, I'm ready to advance the plot but my Mission Control -> Satellite Reign section only has the Black Market lit up, no other mission options. How can I advance the story? I don't know what to do next.

Edit: Also the number of people who get murdered trying to path through the checkpoints is hilarious. Except when it's my own team who decide to run in to the red zone and all hell breaks loose...UGH....

Double Edit: Has anyone ever been able to hack or hardwire something with an untrained unit? I swear to god even when I have a 49% chance of success, if I do it four times it won't work. I have *never* seen a not-100%-chance-of-success hack or hardwire attempt succeed.

I figured out how to do the final section. The stupid game doesn't give some REALLY IMPORTANT DETAILS, specifically to get in to Dracogenics tower you have to load all your agents into the elevator at once and then they'll transition to the next section, similiar to previous border crossings. .

The ending was pretty underwhelming. And I wish there was a NewGame+ or some way to inject some replay value. I've heard of people doing soldier-only runs but I'd rather use all the game features in a more difficult and more varied environment.
