Nether is a game that's all about making your way in a new survival scenario.

Some fluff to get you thinking...

The Cull is a mysterious event that is the prime cause of the events, enemies, and circumstances in Nether. Having occurred nearly a decade before the beginning of the game, The Cull resulted in the transformation of most of humanity (2/3rds of the population, in fact) into humanoid mutations. While this event has been discussed and researched extensively in the world of Nether, the actual cause, purpose, and perpetrators (if there are any) are completely unknown. The live action trailer states that The Cull happened on the same day the largest recorded solar flare hit earth. It's possible that the solar flare triggered The Cull. The Nether are the result of The Cull. Complete mutations, the Nether do not appear to be human or have any vestiges of remaining humanity. Many types of Nether roam the earth in search for prey. Types of Nethers range from absent-minded and seemingly passive, to the horrific and powerful Reapers.

Now that you know some about the games back-story lets talk about its core mechanics.

This game has a similar build to that of DayZ. You play in servers of people up to 64 on one map in only first person. You start out with nothing more than a kitchen knife and have to scavenge through rubble and trash to build and find guns ranging from pistols to m14 spoofs, you also need to find ammo and survival necessities to keep going in the apocalypse. Of course just like in dayz pvp is a major aspect of the game and can be summed up in one simple sentence, shoot first ask questions later.

To help you get started in this desolate wasteland here are some helpful links-

Feel free to post tips, criticisms, ask questions, and anything else about nether you would like to talk about.

p.s. If you feel like more should be added to this first post on this new thread please tell me.
p.p.s. contrary to most of the review about this game (which were made in alpha) this game is actually quite good, they have added a lot to it since its early days and continues to grow.

Picked this up on steam sale today, its seems pretty great so far. Its basically Stalker the micro MMO (IE: Day-z/rust) with a territory control system for the factions.

the territory control is actually pretty cool. when you capture territory for your faction each one of them grants a special bonus.
