run java control panel go to security and disable java in your browser hardly any sites use it anyway these days then you never really need to update it again, just don't run random jars on your computer

My work has automatic update stuff and I always purposely kill it because I'm afraid the java update will break eclipse and I'll waste half a day fixing it.

same Bob but also the new adobe poo poo requires bleeding edge java updates to even open Photoshop files so I should basically kill myself and take shantanu narayen with me

My work doesn't even give me photoshop. We have designers who don't get it either  . They have to use MS Paint and Openoffice's powerpoint.
