To any medical types who might be interested, my dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer a few weeks ago with a Gleason Score of 7 (4+3) after being recommended to a specialist when a routine checkup revealed elevated PSA levels. Didn't have any obvious symptoms that I know of - he's said no when I've asked if he's had any trouble pissing or having to piss a lot or anything like that - and the doctor said he saw no reason, based on my dad's PSA levels and what he'd observed, to believe that the cancer had metastasized. I felt like I had a pretty good handle on what that meant based on online resources, and I wasn't super worried. Now, yesterday he visited with a Radiologist and a Surgeon to discuss treatment options, and the surgeon said he has reason to believe that my dad has a rare, more aggressive variant of Prostate cancer called Intraductal Prostate Cancer - and I can't find anything explicitly about that variant on google, and the most similar results I've found (ductal prostate carcinoma and such) just say that the prognosis is "worse" in pretty vaguely defined ways, and it's making me nervous. For what it's worth, the surgeon is sending my dad's information to some authority on the matter and we're expecting a final verdict in 7-10 days, and the surgeon didn't seem to frame it as a potential crisis or anything - just that Intraductal Prostate Cancer would rule out not having surgery rather than just radiation treatment. All that said, I'm away at college and this is all second hand, so if any medical type could give me a little more detail on what Intraductal Prostate Cancer is and what it might mean for a guy in his early sixties, I'd appreciate it. Reason not to freak out would also be nice, if available.

There's a cancer thread in Goon Doctor, I'd go there.
