You know those bands, the ones that used to rule: the ones that were great until that one guy died, or they got off of drugs, or had a surprise hit, or they found religion? Those bands. They used to loving rule, now they The Red Hot Chili Peppers used to be good, I swear. All about sex and drugs and fun. Funky basslines. Weird hair. Silly songs. Then Hillel died from an OD, and after a few years the remaining members got off the heroin, hooked up with Rick loving Rubin, released "Under the Bridge" and raked in a billion dollars. Since then they've basically released that same lovely song over and over and now pretend to play instruments at the superbowl and are generally just awful. Here's a song of theirs that I still like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0kbxQSwqJ0 Good bass, Flea rocking the trumpet, nonsense lyrics. A+ Next up is Janes Addiction. Now, they never actually became Terrible, but everything that Perry has done since they voluntarily disbanded back in '91 has been mediocre at best. Also, I guess they got back together as Jane's officially at some point? Who cares! You idiots did the right thing when you split up before you could stagnate into a parody of yourselves. Jerks. This song still owns though. Hell, it even has Flea playing trumpet on it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrUUd-30Bzw I used to love Metallica, now they are the very definition of sold out, overproduced, stadium poo poo rock, for white trash morons. Even though they put out a few records between the time that Cliff died and the terrible, awful, no good Black Album I still pin the blame on that bus tipping over. Anyway, "Fade to Black" is still pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdlcl9kklag Of course, many may say that those bands (whoever they are for you) actually always loving sucked. Well, that may or may not be the case, but whatever. What songs do you still love, even after the band has long since lost its way?
